Introduction 1 Intr oduction Thank you for purchasing a Y amaha CR W4001t dri ve. Please read this manual before using the driv e in order to mak e the best use of the supe- rior CR W4001t functions. After reading, please retain this manual for future reference.
Introduction 2 Orange Book Compatible Recording T rac k at Once In this mode, data can be recorded to disc one track at a time. Discs recorded i n this mode cannot be played in CD players or CD-R OM dri ves other than a CD-R W or CD-R driv e until the session is closed.

Chapter 1 - System Configuration 4 Discs On the CR W4001t, you can use con v entional CD-R W and CD-R discs that conform to the Recordable Compact Disc Systems Part 2 and P art 3 (Orange Book).

This setting is set by inserting a jumper pin in the jumper switch located on the rear panel of the CR W4001t driv e.
Chapter 2 - Installing the Yamaha CRW4001t Drive 6 ♦ Setting the CR W4001t as the MASTER ♦ Setting the CR W4001t as the SLA VE ♦ CSEL (Cable SELect) If you use the CSEL setting, the MASTER/SLA VE setting will be made automatically depending on the hardware configuration.

For details on remo ving the co v er from your computer, and installing or removing internal de vices, refer to the manual for your computer .

Slide the CR W4001t drive into the drive bay from the fr ont. At this time, be careful not to apply excessi v e force to the dri ve itself.
Chapter 2 - Installing the Yamaha CRW4001t Drive 9 7. Connect the A UDIO cable. Connect the single 4-pin connector (Sound Blaster compatible) to the sound card. Connect the 4-pin connector at the other end of the cable (the larger connector) to the A UDIO OUT connector on the CR W4001t dri ve.
Chapter 2 - Installing the Yamaha CRW4001t Drive 10 8. Connect the power suppl y cable. Connect the +12V and +5V 4-pin power cable to the po wer supply inter- face located on the rear panel of the CR W4001t drive. The shape of the connector makes it impossible to re verse the connections.

Note: Y ou cannot eject the disc if the A T API command pr ohibits the eject opera- tion while the CR W4001t is reading data. Caution: Be sur e to r emove the disc after it is completely ejected.
