2 ENGLISH APPLICABLE DISCS T O THE UNIT 1. Super Audio CD There are three types of Super A udio CDs. • Single-layer Disc • Dual-layer Disc • Hybrid-layer Disc And each type ma y contain two areas of recorded information.
3 ENGLISH NO TES ABOUT THE DISCS * Handle the discs carefully so as not to scratch their surfaces. * Keep the surfaces of the discs c lean at all times. When cleaning the surf aces of discs, alwa ys be sure to use the special cleaner and wipe the surfaces in the directions shown in the figure below .
4 ENGLISH USING REMO TE CONTR OL UNIT Cautions on handling batteries Misuse of the batteries can result in electrolyte leakage, ruptur ing, corrosion, etc. Bear in mind the f ollowing points when using batteries. • Remov e the batteries from the remote control unit if the unit is not going to be used for a prolonged period (a month or more).
5 ENGLISH FRONT P ANEL z PO WER ON/OFF s witch This s witch is used to tur n the power ON and OFF . When it is pressed, the displa y window lights up , and the power comes on. When it is pressed again, the displa y window is e xtinguished, and the power goes off .
6 ENGLISH b SOUND MODE button m PAUSE button , STOP button . PLAY button ⁄0 OPEN/CLOSE button The buttons listed abo ve are the same to the b uttons on the front panel of the main unit. Please see the correspond items in “ F ront Panel ” section.
7 ENGLISH ¤3 CANCEL button Use this button to cancel a prog rammed track. (See page 16) ¤4 A-B (A-B Repeat button) This button is to determine star ting and ending points for A-B repeat pla y . (See page 14) ¤5 RANDOM button This button is f or random pla y .
8 ENGLISH REAR PANEL A ANALOG OUTPUTS connectors These are the output jacks of the analog audio signals. The supplied analog connection cord can be connected to the CD , A UX, or other connectors on an amplifier . Be sure to connect the L and R channels correctly to the corre- sponding jacks.
9 ENGLISH DISPLA Y a Main display The time displa y and text inf ormation of the disc to be played as well as the setting menus and other displa ys appear on the main displa y .
10 ENGLISH Depending on your amplifier/receiv er/Stereo System, there are various wa ys to connect to this pla yer . F or correct connection please ref er to instr uction manuals of stereo system to be connected. Caution: Do not connect output from this unit to PHONO input of your audio system.
11 ENGLISH OPERA TION * In this instr uction manual, some operations can only be perf ormed with the remote control. For operations that can be perf or med with buttons both on the main unit and on the remote control, the button names are sho wn in the mark.
12 ENGLISH T o star t playbac k form the fir st track Press PLAY button. T o stop playbac k Press STOP button. T o eject disc Press OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tr ay and tak e the disc off. Press the button again to close the tra y . Disc tra y must be closed when the unit is not be used.
13 ENGLISH 7 Digital output off operation The digital output function is turned on and off by pressing the DIGITAL OUT button while the track is stopped. When digital output is turned off, the D OFF indicator lights up on the LCD . * When digital output is not used, setting to digital output off enables y ou to enjoy better sound quality .

15 ENGLISH OPERA TION PLA YING TRA CKS IN A RANDOM SEQUENCE (RANDOM PLA Y) When RANDOM button on the remote is pressed in stop mode , and then PLAY button is pressed, the unit shuffles tr ack order automatically and plays all the tr acks in the shuffled order .
16 ENGLISH OPERA TION T o Check the Pr ogrammed T racks Press the RECALL/SCROLL button on the remote control during the program or when the prog ram is stopped ( “ PROG ” lights up). Every time press RECALL/SCROLL button, the prog rammed tracks will be displa y ed one after the other in order .
17 ENGLISH QUICK REPLA Y When QUICK REPLAY button is pressed during pla yback, the unit goes back to the amount of time set b y the MENU and star ts playbac k from there.
18 ENGLISH TIMER PLA Y This unit can perf or m timer play b y cooperating with your audio timer . Connect this unit ’ s po wer cord to the audio timer ’ s pow er sock et and the timer ’ s power cord to po wer outlet. * F or connection to audio timer and it ’ s operation, please ref er to the instruction manual of your audio timer .
