Remov e the fuel tank cap and fill the fuel into the tank up to the red le vel 2 . The fuel le vel in the fuel tank can be check ed through the fuel le vel gauge 1 .

– 18 – Battery Charging TIP 9 The generator DC rated v oltage is 12V . 9 Star t the engine first, and then connect the gener- ator to the batter y f or charging. 9 Bef ore star ting to charge the batter y , make sure that the DC protector is turned on.
– 19 – 762-012 TIP 9 F ollow instructions in the owner ’ s manual f or the batter y to determine the end of batter y charging. 9 Measure the specific gra vity of electrolyte to deter- mine if the batter y is fully charged. At full charge, the electrolyte specific gra vity is between 1.
– 20 – AE00812 Application range When using the generator , make sure the total load is within rated output of a generator . Otherwise, generator damage ma y occur. 9 Do not overload. The total load of all electrical appliances m ust not exceed the supply range of the generator .

P eriodic inspection, adjustment and lubr ication will keep y our generator in the saf est and most efficient condition possible. The most impor- tant points of generator inspection, adjustment, and lubrication are explained on the f ol- lowing pages .
– 22 – *1 ····· Initial replacement of the engine oil is after one month or 20 hours of operation. *2 ····· The air filter element needs to be cleaned more frequently when using in unusually wet or dusty areas.
– 23 – 4. Chec k for discoloration and remo ve the carbon. The porcelain insulator around the center elec- trode of spark plug should be a medium-to-light tan color . 5. Chec k the spar k plug type and gap a . TIP The spark plug gap should be measured with a wire thickness gauge and, if necessary , adjusted to specifi- cation.
– 24 – Spark Plug T orque: 20.0 N • m (2.0 kgf • m, 14.8 lbf • ft) 6. Install the spark plug. TIP If a torque wrench is not av ailable when installing a spark plug, a good estimate of the correct torque is 1/4- 1/2 turn past finger tight. Howe ver , the spark plug should be tightened to the specified torque as soon as possible .
– 25 – 4. Place an oil pan under the engine. Tilt the genera- tor to drain the oil completely . 5. Replace the generator on a le vel surf ace. Do not tilt the generator when adding engine oil. This could result in overfilling and dama g e to the engine.

A void touc hing the engine and muffler while they are still hot with any part of your bod y or clothing during inspection or repair .

Remov e the carbon deposits on the muffler screen and spark arrester using a wire br ush. When cleaning, use the wire brush lightly to a void damaging or scratching of the m uffler screen and spark arrester .
– 29 – 7DK-069 1 AE00471 Fuel tank filter Never use the gasoline while smoking or in the vicinity of an open flame. 1. Remov e the fuel tank cap and filter 1 . 2. Clean the filter with gasoline. If damaged, replace it. 3. Wipe the filter and install it.

– 32 – Engine P erform the following steps to protect the cylinder , pis- ton ring, etc. from corrosion. 1. Remov e the spar k plug, pour about one table- spoon of SAE 10W -30 or 20W -40 motor oil into the spark plug hole and reinstall the spar k plug.
