11 En Connections English PREP ARA TION Be sure to connec t the left channel (L), right channel (R), “+” (red) and “–” (black) properly . If the connections are f aulty , this unit cannot reproduce the input sources accurately .

13 En Connections English PREP ARA TION Connect one of the type of the audio jack(s) and/or vi deo jack(s) that your input components are equipped with. ■ A udio jacks This unit has three types of audio jacks. Connection depends on the av ailability of audio jacks on your other components.

24 En Optimizing the speaker setting for your listeni ng ro om 4 Make sure that “SETUP” is set to “A UTO” and the pointer is pointing at “ST ART”. y Y ou can also select the follo wing setup methods. In this case, pr ess 7 k to select “SETUP”, press 7 l / h to select the one of the followi ng choices and then select “ST AR T”.

33 En Playback English BA S I C OPERA TION This unit comes with a v ariety of input jacks. Use this feature (audio input jack select) to switch between input jacks when more than one input jack is assigned to as the same input source . y • W e recommend setting the audio input jack selec t to “A UTO” in most cases.
34 En Playback Y ou can display the operating information of this unit on a video monitor . 1 T urn on the video monitor connected to this unit. 2 Press M DISPLA Y .
35 En Playback English BA S I C OPERA TION Y ou can combine a video image from a video source with sound from an audio source. For example, you can enjoy listening to classical music whi le viewing beautiful scenery from the video s ource on the video monitor .
36 En Playback Use this feature to automa tically set this unit to the standby mode after a certain amount of time. Press 4 AMP and then press R SLEEP repeatedly to set the amount of time. Each time you press R SLEEP , the front panel display changes as sho wn below .
SOUND FIELD PROGRAMS 37 En English BA S I C OPERA TION This unit is equipped with a variety of precise digital decoders that allow you to en joy multi-channel playback from almost any stereo or multi-channel sound source. Press G PROGRAM l / h (or pre ss 4 AMP and then press A PROG l / h repeatedl y).
38 En Sound field programs ■ Enjo ying 2-channel sour ces using the standar d decoders Signals input from 2-channel s ources can also be played back on multi-channels.
39 En Sound field programs English BA S I C OPERA TION ■ Editing sound fields parameter s Y ou can enjoy good quality sound with the factory default parameters. Although you do not ha ve to change the initial settings, you can change some of the parameters to better suit the input source or your listening room.
USING AUDIO FEATURES 40 En Use the DIRECT mode to en joy the high quality sounds of the selected source. Whe n the DIRECT mode is activ ated, this unit plays back the selecte d source with the least circuitry . Press I DIRECT (or press 4 AMP and then C DIRECT ) to select “ DIRECT ” .
41 En Using audio features English BA S I C OPERA TION The night listening modes are designed to improve listenability at lo wer vol umes or at night. 1 Press 4 AMP and then P NIGHT repeatedly to select “NIGHT:CINEMA” or “NIGHT :MUSIC”.
USING A USB MEMORY DEVICE OR A USB PORTABLE AUDIO PLAYER 42 En Use this feature to enjoy W A V (PCM format only), MP3 and WMA files sa ved on your USB memory de vice or USB portable audio player connected to the USB port on the front panel of this unit.
43 En Using a USB memory device or a USB portable audio player English BA S I C OPERA TION 3 Press 7 k / n / l / h on the remote control to select the desired file. • Press 7 k / n to se lect the desired fi le/folder . • Press 7 ENTER or 7 h to e nter the selected folder .
USING IPOD™ 44 En Once you hav e stationed your iPod in a Y amaha iPod univ ersal dock (such as YDS-10, sold se parately) connected to the DOCK terminal of this unit (see page 19) , you can enjoy playback of your iPod us ing the supplied remote control.
45 En Using iPod™ English BA S I C OPERA TION ■ Controlling iP od in the menu bro wse mode Y ou can perform the adv anced operations of your iPod using the supplied remote cont rol when you connect this unit and a monitor using the VIDEO connection.
USING BLUETOOTH™ COMPONENTS 46 En Y ou can connect a Y amaha Bluetooth adap ter (such as YBA-10, sold se parately) to the DOCK terminal of this unit and enjoy the music contents stored in your Bluetooth component (suc h as a portable music player) without wiring between this unit and the Bluetooth component.
RECORDING 47 En English BA S I C OPERA TION Recording adjustments and other operati ons are performed fr om the recordi ng components. Refer to the operating instructions for those components. • When this unit is set to the standby mode, you cannot r ecord between other componen ts connected to this unit.
SET MENU 48 En Y ou can use the follo wing parameters in “SET MENU” to adjust a v ariety of syst em settings and cust omize the w ay this unit operates. Change the ini tial settings (indicated in bold under ea ch parameter) to reflect the needs of your listening en vironment.

Use the remote control to acce ss and adjust each parameter . y Y ou can change the “SET MENU” parameters while this unit is reproducing sound .

54 En SET MENU Maximum v olume MAX VOL. Use this feature t o set the maximum v olume le vel. This feature is useful to av oi d the unexpected loud sound by mistake. F or example, the original v olume range is –80 dB to +16 dB. Ho wev er, when “MAX V OL.
