CONTROLS AND FUNCT IONS 4 En 1 Press the part and s lide the battery compartment cover off. 2 Insert two suppl ied batte ries (AA, R6, UM-3) ac cording to the polarity markings (+ and –) on the inside o f the battery comp artment. 3 Slide the co ver back until it s naps into pla ce.

6 En PREPARATION • Do not c onnect this unit or other c omponents to the ma i n power until a ll connectio ns between c omponents are complete . • All connect ions must be correc t: L (left) to L, R (right) to R, “+” to “+” and “–” to “–”.
7 En CONNECTIONS PREPARATION English • The IMPEDANCE SELECTOR must be set to the appropriat e position be fore connecting one o r two speaker sets. See pag e 5 for de tails . • Do not let the ba re speaker wires touch each oth er or do not le t them tou ch any metal part o f this unit .
8 En CONNECTIONS ■ VOLTAGE SELE CTOR (Asia and General models only) The VOLTAGE S ELECTOR on th e rear pa nel of this unit must b e set fo r your local main v oltage BEFORE pluggi ng the supplie d power cable into the wall outlet. Improper setting of the VOLT AGE SELECTOR may cause dam age to this u nit and c reate a pot ential fire hazard.
9 En English OPERATION OPERATION 1 Rotate VOLUME on the front pa nel to the extreme counterc lockwise position. 2 Press POWER o n the front pane l inward to the ON pos ition. 3 Rotate the INPUT s elector on the front panel (or press one of the i nput selector butto ns on the remote control) to select the input sou rce you want to lis ten to.
10 En PLAYING AND RECORDING 6 Rotate VOLUME on the front pa nel (or press VOL +/– on the remote control) to adjust the sound output level. y You ca n adjust the to nal qualit y by using the BAS S, TREBL E, BALANCE and LOUDNESS controls, the CD DIRECT AMP switch, or th e PURE DIREC T switch on the front panel.
11 En PLAYING AND RECORDING OPERATION English ■ Adjusting the LOUDNESS control Retain a full tonal ra nge at a ny volum e level, thus compensating for the human ear s’ loss of se nsitivity to high and low-frequency ranges at low volume.
