1 Safety precautions 11 How to avoid damaging the appliance • In case of overheating, switch the co oking zone off and allow it to cool down completely. Do not put any dishes on it. Under no circumstances use cold water to cool it down quickly. • Do not climb onto the appliance.

4 Your appliance 16 4.3 How induction hobs function Induction hobs work ver y differently from conventional hobs or h ot plates. The induction coils under the glass cerami c plate produce a ra pidly changing magnetic field which di rectly heats up the magnetic base of the cookware .
4 Your appliance 17 4.5 Pan detection Each cooking zone is equipped with pan detection. This detects suitable induction compatible cookwa re with a magnetic base. • If the cookware is removed during operation or if unsuitable co okware is used, – the power level sel ected flashes alterna tely with .
4 Your appliance 18 Energy-efficient cooking For maximum energy effici ency and even heat distribution note the following: • The base of the cookware must be cle an, dry and smooth. • Centre the cookware in the middle of the cooking zone. •U s e a w e l l - f i t t i n g l i d .
19 5 Operating the appliance The individual cooking zones are all o perated in the same way. When the appliance is switched off, all the disp lays are dark (stand-by mode), except for the residual heat indicator should any cooking zone still be hot. 5.
5 Operating the appliance 20 5.4 Switching a cooking zone off ➤ Press on the slider. – If no other entry is made a nd none of the other cooking z ones are in use, the appliance switch es off automatica lly after 10 seconds.
5 Operating the appliance 21 5.8 PowerPlus All the cooking zones are equipped wi th the PowerPlus booster. Wh en PowerPlus is swi tched on, the co oking zone selected works a t extra high power for 10 minutes. PowerPlus can be used, for instance, to heat a large quantity of water quickly.
5 Operating the appliance 22 Power management GK26TIMS PowerPlus cannot be used with both cooking zones at the sam e time. If PowerPlus is activated with both cook ing zones, then the power output is reduced for the cooking zone that was first selected.
5 Operating the appliance 23 5.9 Bridging function The bridging function allows the two indi vid ual cooking zones to be switched on together and to be adjusted together. Switching t he bridging function on ➤ Press the touch button. – The indicator light for the touch button illuminates.
5 Operating the appliance 24 5.10 Automatic boost All the cookin g zones are equipped with a select able automatic boost. With this function, a cooking zone works at power level 9 for a certain length of time (see table). Then it automatica lly goes back to the power level set.
5 Operating the appliance 25 5.11 Operating time With the operating time function, the c ooking zone switches off au tomatically after a set time (1 min. – 1 hr 59 mins.) Setting the operating time ➤ Select the required cooking zone. ➤ Press the touch button.

5 Operating the appliance 27 5.12 Timer The timer functions like an egg timer (1 min. – 9 hr 59 mins.). It can be used at any time and independently of all other functions. Setting t he timer ➤ Switch the appliance on. ➤ Press the touch button. – flashes in the display.
5 Operating the appliance 28 5.13 Childproof lock The childproof lock i s to prevent the app liance from being accide ntally switched on. Switching the childproof lock on ➤ Switch the appliance on. Ensure all cooking zones ar e switched off. ➤ Press the and touch bu ttons at the same time.
5 Operating the appliance 29 5.14 Restore function If the appliance has been inadverte nt ly switched off, the s ettings can be restored within 6 seconds. ➤ Switch the appliance on. – The indicator light at the touch button flashes. ➤ Press the touch button.
5 Operating the appliance 30 5.16 Wipe protection This function prev ents inadvertently changing th e power level, e.g. when wiping the control panel with a clo th.
31 6 User settings The following user settings can be set and store d individually. * When the operating time or timer is up or when error mes sages appear, an acoustic signal is emitted at the level of loudness s et in P0.

33 7 Care and maintenance 7.1 Cleani ng Always clean the hob after use . This prevents food residue s from burning on. Dried-on or burned-on fo od residue is harde r to clean off. Use of improper cleaning techniques ca n result in da mage to the markings or surf ace.
