2 Important safety inf ormation These warnings are provided in the inter ests of your safety. Ensure that you under stand them all before installing or usi ng the appliance. Your safety is of paramount importance. If you are unsure about any of the information in this book contact the Customer Care Depart ment.
3 Ensure your h and is protec ted b efore handling the pan. During use the appliance becomes hot. Care should be ta ken to avoid to uching the heating elements inside the oven. Ensure that all vents are not obstructed to ensure ventilation of the o ven cavity.

7 Before using the ap pliance Rating plate This is situated on the lower fro nt frame of the appliance and can be seen upon opening the door. Alternatively the rating plate may also be found on the back or top of some models (wher e applicable). The a ppliance must be prote cted by a suitably rated fuse or circuit br eaker.
8 The sealed ho tplates Before using the hotplate s for the first time Turn the control knob to a high setting and allow the hotplate to heat, uncovered by a saucepan for 3- 5 minut es. T his hardens the protective coating on the hotplates and makes it more resistant to n ormal use.
9 The grill CAUTION – Accessible p arts may be hot when the grill is in use. Young children sh ould be kept away. Using the grill • To operate the grill open the grill d oor and turn the grill to. The grill do or must be left open when grilling. Things to note • The indicator neon will glow.
10 Ensure th e han dle is properly located. To r emove the handle, pr ess the b utton on the handle with th e thu mb a nd pivot the handle slightly upwards and towards the right to remove fr om the bracket. Protect your hands when removing th e grill pan handle.

12 The fan oven The fan oven is particularly suitable for cooking lar ger quantities of food. The advantages of fan oven co oking are: Preheating The fan oven quickly reaches its temperature, so it is not usua lly necessar y to preheat the oven.
13 To fit the fan oven s helve s The shelves should be fitted with the straight rods uppermost on the fr ame and the f orms towards the back of th e oven. If not fitted correctly the anti- tilt and s afety sto p mechanism will be affe cted. Hints a nd tips • A rrange the shelves in the required positions before switchin g the ov en on.
14 Cooking cha rt The oven temperatu res are inte nded as a guide only. It ma y be necessary to increase or d ecrease the temperatur es to suit individual pref erences and requirem ents.

16 Defrost feature This function d efrosts most foo ds faster than more co nventional metho ds. It is particularly suitable for delicate frozen foods which are to be served cold e.g. cream filled gateaux, cakes covered with icings or frostings, cheesecakes, biscuits, scone s, etc.

18 Care and cleaning Before cleaning always allo w the appliance t o cool down. Cleaning materials Before using an y cleaning mater ials on your appliance, che ck that they are suitable and that their use is r ecommended by the manufacturer. Cleaners that contain bleach sho uld NOT be used as they may dull the su rface finishes.
19 Cleaning the sealed hotplates and hotplate trims In order to mainta in the appearance o f your appliance' s sealed hotplate s a nd trims, you are advised to use the recommended cleaning agents daily. If you do not allow spillages to burn on they will b e m uch easier to clean off.
20 Hints and tips Aerosol cleaners m ust not be used on Stayclean s urfaces. To car ry out the clean ing cycle remove the oven shelves and set the oven to 220° C. It is a good idea to run the oven f or an hour or two per week to ensure continu ed good performance fr om the Stayclean finish.
21 Cleaning the door(s ) To prevent da maging or weakening the door glass panels avoid the use of the fo llowing: • Household detergents and bleac hes • Impregnated pads uns uitable for non- stick.
22 If the door glass panel becomes chipped o r has d eep scratches the glass will be weakened and m ust be replaced to p revent the possibility of the panel shattering. Please contact your local Service Fo rce Centre who will be pleased to advise furthe r.
23 Something not work ing Please carry out the following ch ecks on your app liance before calling a Service Eng ineer. It may be that the prob lem is a simple one that yo u can so lve yourself without the expense of a service call.
