A properly built m asonry chimney or a properly installed factor y built chimney will assure a consis tent draft under a variety of w eather conditions (a sm oking s tove is usu- ally caused by a chim ney problem ).
INSTA LLATION PAGE 9 CHIMNEY HEIGHT REQUIREM ENTS The c himney must ex tend 3 feet (914 m m ) above the level of roof penetration and a m inimum of 2 feet (610 mm ) higher than any r oof surf ace within 10 feet (305 c m) (see below). The creosote vapors condense in the relatively cool chimney flue of a slow-burning fire.
