English 16 Initial Set-up The following gu ides you step by step through the in itial set up of the navigation system. Firstly, remove the foil for protecti ng the device during transpor- tation from the display.
Initial Set- up 17 Car Adapter (simila r pic ture ) 1. Insert the power adapter ( o ) into the cigarette l ighter socket and ensure, that it will not lose contact while driv- ing. This could cause a malfunction. 2. Plug the jack ( n ) of the connection cable into the corre- sponding recep tor at the bottom of your navigation system.
English 18 II. Switching on the navigation system Press the on/off button on the right side of the device for approx. 3 seconds until first informat ion will appear on th e screen. The Navigation System will start the initial instal lation automati- cally.
Initial Set- up 19 Note : Brief pressure on the on/o ff button will be enough to switch the device on or off, provided that your navigation system i s connected to an external source of electricity or is running in battery opera- tion. Press the on/off button for 6 seconds , if it is in- tended to switch off the device completely .

English 22 Accessing Memory Cards • The appliance only supports me mory ca rds in the FA T16/32 file format. If y ou insert a card prepared with a differen t for- mat (e.g. in cameras, MP3 players), y our navigation sy stem may not recognize it and will ask you t o format it again.
Initial Set- up 23 Resetting the navigation system (Soft Reset) Choose this option if your navigati on system is not responding or working properly. This option restarts the navigati on system, withou t reinstallation being necessary. A soft-reset is of ten used in order to reorganize the memory.

Appendix 49 Appendix Special CleanUp Function The CleanUp function serves the ta rgeted del etion of data, with- out using a PC. IMPORTANT : Please use this function very care- fully , because it is possible for data to be deleted that will only need to be entered again man ually af- terwards.
