WWAN module Description Spare part nu mber WWAN module 531993-001 Before removing the WWAN module, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the comp uter. If you are unsure whether the comp uter is off or in Hibernatio n mode, turn on th e computer, and th en shut it down using the operat ing system.
4. Remove the WWAN module (3) by pulling the module away from the slo t at an angle. NOTE: WWAN modules are designed with a notch (4) to prevent incorrect inse rtion of the WWAN module into th e WWAN module sl ot. Reverse this procedure to insta ll the WWAN module.

5. Lift up the regul atory label to access the me mory modules. 6. If you are replacing a memory module, remove the existing memory module: a. Pull away the retention clips (1) on each side of the memory module.

5. Use a flat-bladed screwdriver to pr y the rea r edge of the keybo ard (1) loose from the three retaining ta bs. 6. Lift the keyboard (2) and turn it upside down, resting it on the top cover.

To remove the ClickPad TouchPad button board, follow th ese steps: 1. Remove the 2 screw s that secure the ClickPad TouchPad bu tton board to the top cover (1) . 2. Lift up and remove the ClickPad TouchPad button b oard (2) . Reverse this procedure to insta ll th e Cl ickPad TouchPad button board.
To remove the spea ker assembly, follow th ese steps: 1. Position the top cove r upside down with the front toward you. 2. Remove the 2 screws that secure the speaker assembly to the top cover (1) . 3. Lift up and remove the speaker a ssembly (2) . Reverse this procedu re to install the speake r assembly.
Display assembly Before removing the display assembly, follo w these steps: 1. Shut down the comp uter. If you are unsure whether the comp uter is off or in Hibernatio n mode, turn on th e computer, and th en shut it down using the operat ing system. 2.
6. Slide the display pane l cable (2) back toward the dis play assemb ly while lifting the display assembly (3) straight up t o remove i t. 7. Lift the display assembly (3) straight up and rem ove it. 8. If it is necessary to replac e the display be zel or any of the display assembly internal components: a.
b. Disconnect the webcam cable (2) from the webcam modul e. Reverse this pro cedure to install th e webcam module. 10. If it is necessary to replace the di splay panel: a. Remove the 4 screws (1) that secure the display hing e brackets to the display pane l.
d. Remove the display pane l (2) . Reverse this pro cedure to install th e display panel. 11. If it is necessary to replace the wi reless antenna tran sceivers and cables: a. Release the wireless antenna cabl es (1) from the clips a nd routing cha nnels built into the base enclosure.

2. Disconnec t the RJ-45 cable (2) from the system board. 3. Remove the 2 screws (1) that secure the system bo ard to the base enclosur e. 4. Lift the left side of the system board (2) until it rests at an angle . 5. Remove the system board (3) by sliding it away from the base enclosure at a 45-degree a ngle.
RTC battery Description Spare part nu mber RTC battery 635310-001 Before removing the real-time clock (RTC) battery, follow th ese steps: 1. Shut down the comp uter. If you are unsure whether the comp uter is off or in Hibernatio n mode, turn on the, and then shut it down us ing the operating system.
Heat sink assembly NOTE: To prop erly ventilate the comput er, allow at least 7.6 cm (3 in) of clearance on the left side of the computer. The computer uses an electric fan for ventilation. The fan is contro lled by a temperature sensor an d is designed to turn on au tomaticall y when high temp erature conditions exist.
2. Remove the heat sink assembly (2) . NOTE: The thermal mate rial must be thoroughly clean ed from the surfaces of the heat sink assembly and the system board each time the heat sink assembly is removed: Thermal pads are l ocated on the heat sink (1) and on the base enclosure (2) unde rneath the heat sink.

5 Computer Setup Computer Setup in Windows 7 Starting Setup Utility Setup Utility is a ROM-based information and custom ization utility that can be used even when the Windows operating system is not working. The utility reports informatio n about the device and pr ovides settings for star tup, security , and other prefere nces.
Navigating and selectin g in Setup Utility Because Setup Utility is not Window s based, it does not support the ClickPad TouchPad. Navigation and selection a re by keystroke.
Exiting Setup Utility You can exit Setup Utility with or without saving changes. ● To exit Setup Utility and save your changes from the current session: If the Setup Utility menu s are not visible, press esc to return to the menu di splay. 7 Backup and recovery ● Restore ● Creating restore media ● Performing a system restore ● Backing up and re covering your infor mation Your computer includes t ools provided by the operating system and HP to help you safeguard your information and restore it if ever needed.
Restore In the event of hard drive failure, to restore your system to its factory image you will need a set of recovery discs or a recovery flash drive that you can create using HP Recovery Manager. HP recommends that you use this softwa re to create either a set of re covery discs or a recovery flash drive immediately afte r software setu p.
Performing a system restore Recovery Manager software allows yo u to repair or rest ore the compute r to its origina l factory state. Recovery Manager works from recovery discs, a reco very flash drive, or from a dedicated recovery partition (select models only) on the hard drive.
Restoring using the restor e media 1. If possible, bac k up all personal files. 2. Insert the first recovery disc into the optical drive on your computer or an optional external optical drive, and then restart the co mputer. – or – Insert th e recov ery flash d rive into a USB por t on your computer, and th en restart the computer.
Changing the computer boot order To change the boot or der for recovery discs: 1. Restart the computer. 2. Press esc while the computer is re starting, and then press f9 fo r boot options. 3. Select Internal CD/DVD ROM Drive from the boot options win dow.
To create a scree n shot: 1. Display the screen you want to save. 2. Copy the screen image: To copy only the ac tive window, p ress alt+fn+prt sc . To copy the entire screen, press fn +prt s c . 3. Open a word-processing document, and th en select Edit > Paste .
Using Windows system restore points A system restore point allows you to save and name a snapshot of your hard drive at a specific point in time. You can then recove r back to that po int if you want to reverse subsequent changes.

Perform the following ste ps to di sassemble the display assembly: 1. Remove all screw covers (1) and screws (2 ) that secure the display bezel to the display assembly. 2. Lift up and out o n the left and ri ght inside edges (1) and the top and b ottom inside edge s (2) of the display beze l until the bezel disengag es from the display assemb ly.
4. Disconnect all disp lay panel cables (1) from the display i nverter and remove the in verter (2) . 5. Remove all screws (1) that secure the display panel a ssembly to the display enclosure. 6. Remove the display panel assembly (2) from the display enclosure.
10. Remove the display pan el frame (2) from the display panel. 11. Remove the screws (1) that secure the backlight cover to the display panel. 12. Lift the top edge of the backlig ht cover (2) and swing it outward. 13. Remove the backlight cover. 14.
15. Remove the backlight cables (1) from the clip (2) in the display panel . 16. Turn the display pane l upside down. WARNING ! The backlight contains mercury. Exercise caution when removing and handling t he backlight to avoid damag ing this compon ent and causin g exposure to the mercu ry.
