Before using your cooktop Read this manual carefully . It is intended to help you operate and maintain your new cooktop properly . Keep it handy for answers to your questions. If you don’ t understand something or need more help, there is a list of toll-free consumer service numbers included in the back section of this manual.
4 IMPOR T ANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should be followed, including the following: • Be sure your appliance is properly installed and grounded by a qualified technician in accordance with the provided installation instructions.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS • When the cooktop is cool, use only CERAMA BR YTE ® Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner and the CERAMA BR YTE ® Cleaning Pad to clean the cooktop. • T o avoid possible damage to the cooking sur face, do not apply the cleaning cream to the glass sur face when it is hot.
6 IMPOR T ANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS • Avoid placing any objects on or near the keypads in order to prevent accidental activation of the cooktop controls.

11 Radiant sur face units The radiant cooktop features heating units beneath a smooth glass sur face. NOTE: This cooktop has Rapid Response surface units. The cooktop will automatically heat up or cool down to the desired power level setting in the quickest time possible.
The controls for the radiant sur face units allow for 11 different heat settings: Low , 1–9 and High. The heating element may not visibly glow at low heat settings. Radiant sur face units T o turn on a single sur face unit: 1. T ouch the ON/OFF pad, then touch the (+)/(-) pad.
13 T o turn on the warmer sur face unit: 1. T ouch the ON/OFF pad, then touch the W ARM pad. The sur face unit will turn on to warmer power setting W1 (low). 2. Use the (+)/(-) pad to choose additional settings of W2(medium) and W3 (high). T o turn off the warmer power settings, touch the ON/OFF pad.
Using Y our Cooktop Radiant Cooktop 14 If an error occurs in the control operation, a fault code will flash and the control will signal. T o cor rect: 1. T ouch the (CONTROL LOCK) pad to reset the control. 2. Attempt to set the control to the desired cooking setting.
15 This feature automatically turns off a sur face unit after 60 seconds if a pan is absent from the sur face unit. The power level display will flash until the sur face unit is turned off when the control detects the absence of a pan. T o activate and deactivate pan detection for all surface units: T ouch the (P AN) pad.
16 Cookware Tips Radiant Cooktop Selecting types of cookware The following infor mation will help you choose cookware which will give good perfor mance. Stainless Steel: recommended Aluminum: heavyweight recommended Good conductivity . Aluminum residues sometimes appear as scratches on the cooktop but can be removed if cleaned immediately .
17 Home Canning Tips Radiant Cooktop Obser ve the following points in canning Note: Flat-bottomed canners are required for glass cooktops. Right! Wrong! When canning with water -bath or pressure canner , larger -diameter pots may be used.
Carefully grasp a corner of the protective shipping film with your fingers and slowly peel it from the appliance sur face. Do not use any sharp items to remove the film.
19 Burned-on residue WARNING: DAMAGE to your glass surface may occur if you use scrub pads other than the pad included with your cooktop. 1. Allow the cooktop to cool. 2. Spread a few drops of CERAMA BR YTE ® Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner on the entire burned residue area.
20 Glass Cooktop Cleaning Radiant Cooktop Metal marks and scratches 1. Be careful not to slide pots and pans across your cooktop. It will leave metal markings on the cooktop sur face. These marks are removable using the CERAMA BR YTE ® Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner with the CERAMA BR YTE ® Cleaning Pad for Ceramic Cooktops.
21 Before Y ou Call For Ser vice… Radiant Cooktop Save time and money! Review the charts on the following pages first and you may not need to call for ser vice. PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SURF ACE UNITS • Improper cookware being used. Use pans which are absolutely WILL NOT MAINT AIN flat and match the diameter of the sur face unit selected.
22 Save time and money! PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE P AN DETECTION • Improper cookware being used. Use a flat, metallic pan that is 4.0 ″ OR SIZING NOT or larger . WORKING • Pan is improperly placed. Make sure that the pan is centered on the PROPERL Y corresponding sur face unit.
