25 Getting Started Power Sources Y our Fujitsu LifeBook notebook has two possible power sources: a Lithium ion battery or an AC adapter . CONNECTING THE AC ADAPTER The A C adapter pro v ides power for operating your LifeBook notebook and is used to charge the batteries.

45 User-Installable Features Memory Upgrade Module Y our notebook has two memor y slots, and the system comes with 1 GB , 2 GB, or 4 GB of factory-installed memory .

47 User-Installable Features Device Ports Y our LifeBook notebook comes equipped w ith multiple ports to which you can connect an external device including: disk driv es, keyboards, mode ms, printers, etc. COMMUNICATIONS PORTS Y our LifeBook has a Modem jack (RJ-11) and a LAN jack (RJ-45) to accommodate external communications.

53 T roubleshooting T roubleshooting Y our LifeBook notebook is sturdy and subject to few prob lems in the field. H ow ever , you ma y encount er simple setup or operating problems that you can solve on the spot, or pr oblems with peripheral devices, that you can sol ve by r eplacing the device.

55 T roubleshooting LifeBook notebook fails to auto-p lay D VD movie. DVD Pla yer Software is not installed. Ins ta ll DVD Playe r S oft wa re u si ng th e DVD App li- cation. Country designator cou ld be set incorrectly . Select the DVD pla yer softwar e from the programs list and right-click on the window .

57 T roubleshooting A card inserted in the PC Card slot does no t work or is locking up the syst em. (con tinued) Y our PC Card dev ice and another device are assigned the same I/O address. Check all I/O addr esses located within the Device Manager and an y other installed hardwar e or soft- ware to make sur e there ar e no duplications.

59 T roubleshooting An error message is display ed on the screen during the notebook (boot) sequenc e. Pow e r O n S e l f T e s t ( P O S T ) h a s detected a problem. See the POST messages to determine the meaning and severity of the problem. N ot all messages are errors; some are status indicators.
60 LifeBook N6400 Series User’s Guid e The built-in display does not close. A foreign object, such as a paper clip, is stuck between the display and the k eyboard. Remo ve all foreign objects from the keyboard. The built-in display has bright or dark sp ots.
61 T roubleshooting POWER ON SELF T EST MESSAGES The following is an alphabetic list of er ror-and-status messages that Phoenix BIOS and/or your operating system can generate and an explanation of each message. Error messages are marked with an *. The most common err ors are mark ed with a #.
