11 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. Icon The disarm icon will flash while the system is disarming Icon The arm icon will flash while the system is arming. Icon The door icon will be displayed to indicate that a door is open when arming the system (Bypass N otification) or opened when the system is armed (T amper Alert).

Number Icons When either of the channel 2 or 4 outputs is activated the appro- priate icon will be displayed for five seconds.

Command Pa ge When a command (arm/disarm, remote start, or auxiliary channel) from the remote control is sent and r eceived, the system will send a command page back to confirm receipt. Alarm Pa ge If the alarm system is triggered while armed, an Alarm P age will be sent to the remote control.

22 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. Disarming while driving P ress on the remote control or simply turn off the ignition to disarm the system. The lights will flash twice, the doors will unlock, the siren will chirp twice, and the status LED will turn off.

24 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. high security disarm This security system offers High S ecurity Disarm. High Security Disarm is a feature that makes it possible to silence and r eset the system while it is triggered, without disarming the system.
25 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. T o disarm the security system, turn the ignition to the ON posi- tion. P ress the V alet button the preset number of times (one to five times) within 5 seconds. The factory preset is one. After five seconds, the system will disarm.
26 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. All arm/disarm page notifications will still be generated by the remote control in silent mode. panic mode If you are thr eatened in or near your vehicle, you can attract attention by triggering the system with your remote control.
27 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. T o enter or exit V alet Mode: 1. T urn the ignition on. 2. T urn the ignition off. 3. P ress and release the V alet switch within 10 seconds. The status LED will light solidly if you are entering V alet Mode, and it will go out if you are exiting V alet Mode.
28 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. remote start This feature allows you to r emotely start and run your vehicle for a programmable period of time. This makes it possible to warm up the engine, as well as adjust the interior temperature of the vehicle with the climate control system.

Once the vehicle has started, it will run for the pre-program- med period of time (either 12, 24, or 60 minutes - see Pr ogramming Options section of this guide) or until a shut- down input is triggered. When using the Directed Bitwriter , the run time can be programmed from 1-60 minutes.

31 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. timer mode T imer Mode automatically starts your vehicle engine and runs it for a pre-programmed time period, every three hours for a total of six operation cycles. Timer M ode helps to ensure that your engine will start in the morning after being parked outside during a night of extremely cold temperatures.
32 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. T o exit Timer Mode: T imer Mode can be exited by turning the ignition on with the key any time that the vehicle engine is not running. Y ou can also exit T imer Mode using the transmitter by following these steps: 1.

34 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. over and under rev protection The system monitors the engine speed and will automatically shut the engine off if the RPMs rise above or fall belo w the programmed levels. This feature prevents damage to the motor due to fuel delivery system failures or other problems which may cause the engine to race.
35 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. Example If the alarm triggers three times within a 60-minute period and each time the same sensor or switch triggers the alarm, NPC ™ will interpret those triggers as false alarms.

It is designed to detect any faulty switches and sensors and prevents them from disabling the entire system.

42 © 2002 directed electronics, inc. ➤ P ower Saver in V alet ® Mode: When the system enters V alet ® Mode the LED illuminates steadily . If the vehicle is not used (ignition is not turned on) for a one hour period while the system is in V alet ® Mode, the LED will shut off .

P assive locking allows the vehicle's doors to lock when the security system passively arms (after the 30-second countdown).

The purpose of this feature is to protect the vehicle from being stolen at all times, regardless of whether or not the alarm is armed. I f AED is programmed on, the starter of the vehicle will be disabled 30 seconds after the ignition is turned off.

P ower T runk Release: The accessory output of the system can op- erate a factory power release for the vehicle ’ s trunk or hatch.
g g l l o o s s s s a a r r y y o o f f t t e e r r m m s s Control Unit: The “brain ” of your system. Usually hidden under- neath the dash area of the vehicle. The control unit houses the microprocessor which monitors your vehicle and contr ols all system functions.
