26 Prepa ratio ns Basic Operatio n of the Camcorder Using the T ouch Screen The contro l buttons and menu items that appear on the touch scr een change dynami cally dependi ng on the operat ing mode and the task you are performing. With the intuitive touch screen interface you have all the contr ols at your fingert ips.
Prepa rat ions 27 Using the Menus Many of the camcor der's funct ions can be adjust ed from the [ Main Functions] panel and [ Other Settings] menus in the HOME menu. For details about the available menu options and settings, refer to the appen dix Menu Options Lists ( A 168).

Prepa rat ions 31 Operating Modes Recording When r ecor ding, the camcor der's o perating mode is deter mined by t he [ Camera Mode] and [ Recording Standar d] menus in the HO ME menu. First, set the camera mode. 1 P ress to open t he HOME menu.

34 Prepa ratio ns First Time Settings Setting the Date and Time Y ou will need to set the da te and time of the camcor der befor e you can start using it. The [D ate/Time] scre en will appear automatically when t he cam- cord er’ s cl ock i s not set .
Prepa rat ions 35 Changing the Language The default language of the c amcorder is English. Y ou can set i t to one of 27 lan gua ges . Operat ing modes: 1P r e s s . 2 Se lect the desired language. NOTES • Some c ontrol buttons, such as [ZOOM ] or [PHOTO ], will ap pear in English regar dless of the language selected.
36 Prepa ratio ns Changing the Time Zone Change the time zone to match your location. The default setting is New Y ork. Operating modes: 1P r e s s . 2 Open the [Time Zone/DST] scr een. 3T o u c h [ " ] to set the hom e time zone, or [ # ] to set the tim e zone of your de stination when y ou are traveling.

Video 93 Approximat e recording time s Default value A VCHD movies in MXP mode are recorded in 1,920 x 1 ,080 resolution. AVCHD movies recorded using other recording modes are recorded in 1,44 0 x 1,080 resolution . MP4 mov ies are recorded in 1,2 80 x 720 res olution.
