28 Tips for Mak ing Better Videos Holding the Camcorder For maximum s tabili ty , grip th e camcorder in your r ight hand and keep y our right el bow pressed again st your body . If necessar y , support t he camcorder with your left hand. Be careful that yo ur fingers do not touch the microp hone or lens.

68 T urning Off the Image St abilize r The image st abilizer co mpensates for c amcorder shake ev en at full telepho to. It tr ies to compensate for horizont al movements ; therefore , you may decide to tu rn it off when y ou mount the c amcorder on a tripod .
69 Adva nced Fun ctions Othe r Function s E Demonstration Mode The demonstr ation mode dis plays the camcorder’s main features. I t starts automatically when you leave th e camcorder turned on (usin g the power adapter) without loadin g a recording media for more than 5 minutes.
70 Editing R ecor ding to a V CR or Digit al Video De vice Y ou can copy your recordin gs by connectin g the camcorder to a VCR or a digital vi deo device. If you connect a digit al video device, you can copy rec ordings with virt ually no generation loss in image and sound qua lity .
71 E Editing We re commend p owering th e camcorder from a household p ower source. When con necting a VCR, the quality o f the edi ted tape will be slight ly lower than that of the original.

Use the editin g software s upplied with your compu ter/ca pture board to transfer v ideo recording from t ape to computer .
81 E Using a Me mory Card Using a Memory Card Inser ting and R emo ving a Memor y Card Y ou can use commercially av ailable SD Memory Cards or MultiMe diaCards (MMC) with this camcorder . The SD Memory Card has a prote ct switch t o prevent acciden tal erasure .
82 Selecting the I mage Quality/Siz e Y ou can select the still image size from L 1024 x768 or S 640x480 and the still image quality from Sup er Fine, Fine and Normal. 1. Open the FUNC. menu and select ( ) the image size/quality icon. 2. Sel ect ( ) the de sired image si ze.
83 E Using a Me mory Card Changi ng the S till Image Qua lity during a T ape’ s Playb ack While playing back a tape you c an capture a scene as a still image on the memo ry card. In the still image size will be S 640x480 , but you can select the still image quality .
84 File Numbers Images are au tomatically assigned file nu mbers from 0101 to 9900 and stored in folders cont aining up to 100 images . Folders are ass igned numbers from 101 to 998. Y ou can choose to use consec utive file numb ers (CONTINUOUS) or to res et the file number each ti me a differen t memory card is inser ted (RESET).
85 E Using a Me mory Card R ecor ding Still Ima g es on a Memor y Card Y ou can record still images with the camcorde r or record as still images scenes from a video recordin g on the tape or from an ex ternal video s ignal from the DV termina l ( only: also from t he A V terminal).
86 Connection t o a computer or PictBr idge compliant print er will not work when the memory card co ntains more t han 1800 images . For best performa nce, we recommend not recording more th an 100 images on t he memory card when you pl an to c onnect t he camcord er to a c omputer or printer .
