28 Prepa rati ons To attach an optio nal wrist strap Attach the wrist strap to the rear bracket on the camcorder , adjust the length and fasten. Y ou can also attach the wrist strap to the strap mount on the grip belt to use both for extra co nvenience and pr otection.

30 Prepa rati ons LCD Backlight When recor ding in bright places it may be dif ficult to use the LCD screen. T urn on the LCD backlight t o make it brig hter . With the camcorder on, hold h press ed down for mor e than 2 second s. Repeat thi s action to sw itch the LCD backlig ht betwe en off (norma l) and on (bright).
Prepa rations 31 Using the Viewfinder If it is difficult to use the LCD screen even after tur ning on the LCD backlight, y ou can use the viewfinder . Y ou can also use the viewfinder when you rotate the LCD panel 180 degrees to let the subject watch the reco rding .
32 Prepa rati ons Basic Operatio n of the Camcorder Using the T ouch Screen The contro l buttons and menu items that appear on th e touch screen change dynami cally dependi ng on the operat ing mode and the task you are performing. With the intuitive touch screen interface you have all the contr ols at your fingert ips.

48 AUTO Mo de Rating Scenes Y ou can turn on the scene r ating optio n in recor ding mode with the 8 8 [Rate Scenes (Reco rding) ] setting. Immed iately after recor ding a s cene, you will have the option to rate it by touching one of the rating butto ns; you can also touch [ ] or [ a ] to leave the scene unrat ed.

AUT O Mode 51 Zoomin g There are three ways yo u can zoom in and out: usi ng the zoom lever on the cam corder , using t he zoom b uttons on th e wirele s s contr oller or using the zoom controls on the touch screen.

AUT O Mode 53 Qui ck St art Fu ncti on When you cl o se t he LCD pane l with the camcor der on, the cam cor der enter s the stand by mode. In stand by mode th e camcor der c onsumes only about 1/3 the p ower used when r ecording, s aving ener gy when you ar e using a bat tery pa ck.

Video 61 Delet in g Scen es and Stor ies Y ou can delete those sce nes and stories that you are not inter ested in keeping. De leting scenes a llows you also to fr ee up space o n the mem- ory . Deleting a S ingle Scene 1 Play back the scene you wish to delete.
62 Video 2 Delete the scenes. * When you se lect [Select], p erform the following proced ure to select the ind ivid- ual scenes you wa nt to delete b efore touching [Y es]. ** T ouch [Stop] to interrupt the operation while it is in progr ess. Some scenes may be deleted nev ertheless.

98 Video Manual Exposure Adjustment At times, bac klit subjec ts may appear too dark (under exposed) or sub- jects under ve ry strong lights m ay appear too bright or glaring (overex- posed).
