Connect a power source to the ca mcorder when replacing t he backup batt ery to retain the settings .
24 Step 7: Adjusting the LC D Scr een Rot ating the LCD Panel Open the LCD panel 90 degrees. • Y ou can rotate the panel down ward by 90 degree s. • Y ou can rotate the panel by 18 0 degrees towar d the lens (all owing the subj ect to monitor the L CD screen while you use the viewfi nder).
25 Preparatio n E Step 8: Changing the Display Langua ge The language us ed in the camcor der display s and menu items ca n be changed. A different set of la nguages will be available w ith your camcord er , d epending on th e area where you ac quired it.

27 Preparatio n E Time Zo nes Once you have se t your time zo ne, date and time, you do not need to reset the clock eac h time you trav el to another time zone. Just set the time zone to the one o f your destinat ion, and the camcord er automat ically adjusts th e clock.

With the Program AE recordin g program, you can point and shoot as in mode, howe ver , you have the opti on of changing some settings.

83 Advanced Functions Digital Camera Functions E Er asing Images Y ou can erase images one at a time or all a t once. Be careful when erasing imag es. Erased i mages cannot be re covered. Protected im ages cannot be erased. Movies can onl y be erased when t he first scene i s displayed as a still image.
84 Protecting Ima ges Y ou can protect impo rtant images fro m accidental era sure when disp laying a singl e image or index screen. If a memory car d is initialize d, all still i mages and movies , even protec ted ones, will be erased permane ntly . Movies can only be protected when the first scene is displ ayed as a still imag e.
85 Advanced Functions Digital Camera Functions E Initializing a Memor y Car d Initialize new memory cards, or when you get the message “CA RD ERROR”. Y ou can also initia lize a memory card to eras e all dat a recorded on it. Initializi ng a memory car d erases all data, including protected ima ges.
86 Editing R ecor ding to a VC R or Digital Video De vice Y ou can copy your rec ordings by connec ting the camc order to a VCR or a di gital video device (DVD rec order , another digi tal camcorder, etc.). If you connect a di gital video device, y ou can copy recordings w ith virtually no generati on loss in i mage and so und quality .
87 Editing E We rec ommend poweri ng the camcord er from a ho usehold po wer source. When connecting a VCR, th e quality of the edited t a pe will be slightly lower than that of the original.
88 Analog Line-in R ecor ding Y ou can input video fr om other analog de vices (VCR, TV or camcorder) vi a the A V terminal, and record the input video on the tape in the camcord er . Y ou c an also re cord the input vide o as a movie or still imag e on a memor y card.
89 Editing E Recording the Input V ideo on a Memory Card The size of the still imag e recorded on the memory card will be S 640 x 480. The still image qualit y and the movie siz e can be select ed. Available onl y in the mode. 1. Check that a memory card is inserted.
90 DV D u b b i n g Y ou can input video fr om other digital vide o devices via t he DV terminal , and record th e input video on the tape in the camc order .
