ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS A v oid Electric Shoc k This product has a polarized po wer cord plug, meaning one blade on the plug is wider than t he other. The plug will fit into a polarized electrical outlet only one way . T o reduce the risk of electr ical shock , do not force the plug into an outlet.

OPERA TING Y OUR CONVECTION O VEN Before t he Firs t Use 1 . Carefully r emove the conv ection ov en from the packaging and place on counter near a suitable electrical outlet.
T op: BROIL Bottom: BAKE Middle: TO AST , BAGEL PIZZA, COOKIES Setting t he Controls The First Use For the first use, we suggest preheating the conv ection ov en without food to burn of f any oils used in the manufacturing process. The ov en may emit a light smoke or odor as it heats up during the first few minutes of operation.
Based on the desired cooking mode, mov e the rack , if needed, to t he appropriate position: T op rac k position – Broil Middle rac k position* – T oast, Bagel, Pizza and Cookies Bottom rac k position – Bake * NOTE: The middle rack has a safety hook to prev ent the rack from falling out when remo ved.
Step 3: SELECT C ONVECTION OR DEFROST MODES (Optional) Conv ection If desired, pr ess t he Conv ection button to activate the conv ection fan. NOTE: The Conv ection option is available when using the following modes: Bak e, Pizza and Cookies.
Step 5: C HOOSE THE TEMPERA TURE Bak e, Pizza and Cookies – T urn the T emp/Shade knob to select the desired temperature, which is displayed in fiv e degree increments fr om 1 50˚F to 450˚F . T urn the knob to the right to increase the t emperature and to the lef t to decrease it.
Place food on baking pan or ov en rac k. Place food on t he 9 x 1 0 inch nonstic k baking pan supplied with t he conv ection oven. Or , select a pan that fits wit hin the oven cavity up to a 9 x 1 3-inch pan. Do not use ov er-sized pans that touc h the oven w alls or keep the door from closing.
Step 7: CHAN GING/C ANCELIN G A COOKIN G CY CLE Changing a Cy cle Mode – Y ou may not c hange the cooking mode while the oven is oper ating. Instead, tur n the oven off by pressing the Star t/Cancel button.
TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL OPERA TION As you become familiar with your con vection o ven, w e want to share a fe w suggestions for baking, roasting, broiling and toasting common foods. BAKE Ho w it W orks When choosing Bake mode, the top and bottom heating elements cycle on and off, maintaining a constant temperature to bak e foods from abov e and below .
The optional Defrost setting is not available while using the Bake mode. If you try to select t his option t he conv ection ov en will chime t hree times to indicate this setting is no t active during the Bake mode. Setting t he Controls f or Baking 1 .

1 6 BROIL Ho w it W orks When choosing Broil mode, the top heating elements cycle on and off to cook foods from the top down. Broil with the door open for shor t cooking times, less than 1 0 minutes, to add crispness to items like open-faced sandwiches and nachos.

HI broil – Use for denser foods such as hamburger patties, steaks, and pork chops. LO broil – Use for more delicate br oiling such as chic ken br east halves, and fresh fish filets.
1 9 •Preheat – No •RackPosition – Middle •RecommendedPansforT oasting – A pan is not needed for toasting. T o allow pr oper toasting of bread slices, waffles and toaster pastries from both top and bottom, place directly on the oven r ack pro vided with t he conv ection oven.
3. When pow ered on, default settings for the convection o ven ar e displayed. The o ven is set to Bak e for 1 0 minutes at 350˚F with the conv ection function activated. 4. Press the Mode button to select the T oast setting. 5. A default setting of four slices and a darkness level four appears.
BA GEL Ho w it W orks When choosing the Bag el mode, the upper heating elements toast foods on top and t he bottom heating elements cycle on and off to warm them on the bottom. When to Use This Setting Choose for toasting the cut sides of dense, sliced bread pr oducts such as bag els or English muffins.
The optional Conv ection setting is not available to use during the Bag el mode. If you try to select t his option t he conv ection ov en will chime t hree times to indicate this setting is no t active during the Bagel mode. Setting t he Controls f or Bagel Mode 1 .

26 • RecommendedBakingPans – Metal baking pans are suggested. For baking cookies, a small baking sheet w orks well, or the 9 x 1 0-inch nonstick baking pan provided with your Calphalon con vection o ven. Options Defrost and Convection modes Choose Defrost if y ou are baking frozen foods.
8. T urn the T emp/Shade knob to select t he desired o ven temperature. T urn right to increase the temperature and left to decrease it. The temperature may be set in 5 degree incr ements from a minimum of 1 50˚F to a maximum of 450˚F . 9. Press the Star t/Cancel button.

FREQUENTL Y ASKED QUESTIONS I hear a slight clicking noise while t he ov en is operating. Is this a malfunction? N o, the convection o ven is equipped with real time temperature feedback. The L CD will display t he current ov en temperature during the pre-heating phase in order to communicate the pre-heat progress of the oven.
Why do some types of bread bro wn more t han ot hers when using the same shade selection? This could be due to a several factors. The moisture, textur e, temperature, sugar content and thickness of the slices can all af fect levels of br owning.
