First, the term “mode” refers to two thing s in this User’ s Guide. • Web Configurator mode . This refers to the W eb Configur ator interface y ou want to use for editing WAP3205 features.

WAP3205 User’s Guide 45 C HAPTER 6 Access Point Mode 6.1 Overview The WAP3205 is set to access point mode by default. In this mode y our WAP3205 bridges a wired network (LAN) and wirele ss LAN (WLAN) in the same subnet. Se e the figure below for an example.

See the Quick start Guide for instructions on how to do this. 2 T o use your W AP3205 as an access point, go to Maintenance > Sy s OP Mode and select Access Point mode.

WAP3205 User’s Guide 53 C HAPTER 7 Client Mode 7.1 Overview Y our WAP3205 can act as a wireless client. In wireless client mode, it can connect to an existing network via an access point. Use this mode if you already have an access point or wireless router in y our network.

Y ou can hide the SSID instead, in which case the AP does not broadcast the SSID . In addition, you should change the default SSID to something th at is difficu lt to guess.
