Connections 7 En PREP ARA TION ■ ANALOG OUTPUT jacks Connect the supplied audio pin cable to the ANALOG OUTPUT jacks of this unit and the analog audio input jacks of your amplifier as follows. ■ DIGIT AL (DAB) OUTPUT jac ks This unit is equipped with the DIGIT AL (D AB) OUTPUT jacks (OPTICAL and CO AXIA L).
8 En Connec tions Connect the supplied indoor D AB antenna to the D AB antenna terminal on the rear panel and attach the indoor D AB antenna ve rtically on the wal l. y It is recommended that you us e the tuning aid func tion (see page 14) when you set up the indoor D AB antenna in order to maximize DA B reception c apability .
9 En Connections PREP ARA TION Plug the supplied A C power cable into A C IN after all other connections are comple te, then plug the AC po wer cable into an A C wall outlet. ■ T urning on this unit Press ST ANDBY/ON (or POWER ) to turn on this unit.
DAB (DIGITAL AUDIO BRO ADCASTING) TUNING 10 En D AB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), also kno wn as digital radio, is a ne w way of radio broadcasting. D AB is broadcast using digital signals in stead of analog sign als, resulting in near CD -quality sound.
11 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuning TUNING Before tuning into D AB serv ices, you must perform the automatic scanning. Press BAND on the front panel (or remote control) repeatedly to select D AB as the reception band.
12 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuning Use this feat ure to select t he desired DAB services by brow sing the D AB service registry list. Once you hav e performed the automatic scanning, the registry list of av ailable services is updated automatically as long as this unit is in the D AB tuning mode.
13 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuning TUNING Use this feature to set the D AB functions 1 Press BA ND on the front panel (or remote control) repeatedly to se lect D AB as the reception band. 2 Press FUNCTION on the front panel (or remote control) to ac tivate the D AB setup menu.
14 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuning ■ T uning aid Tune aid Use this feature to adjust the positioning of the D AB antenna and this unit. It is recommended that you per form this operation when setting up this unit in order to maximize the D AB re ception capability .
15 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuning TUNING Y ou can use the D AB preset tuning feature to store preset D AB services in the memory . Y ou can then recall an y preset servic e easily by select ing the preset se rvice number assigned to the corresponding D AB service.
16 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuning ■ Recalling the preset D AB services 1 Press FUNCTION on the front panel (or remote contr ol) to sel ect “Preset tune” and then press SELECT . 2 Rotate PRESET/TUNING (or press TUNING k / n repeatedly) to select the desired preset number and then press SELECT .
17 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuning TUNING Use this feature to display va rious information about the D AB service currently being receiv ed. Press INFO/TEXT on the front panel (or remote control) repeatedly while a D AB ser vice is currently being broadcast.
18 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuning ■ Band III When you perform the local range scanning, this unit scans on ly within the frequencies marked with an asterisk (*) in the followin g table (see page 11). ■ L-Band DAB frequency information Note Frequency Channel label 174.
FM/AM TUNING 19 En TUNING ■ A utomatic tuning Automatic tuning is effecti ve when sta tion signals are strong and there is no in terference. 1 Press BA ND on the front panel (or remote control) repeatedl y to sele ct the reception band (FM/AM). 2 Press TUNING MODE (or remote control) to select “A uto tune”.
20 En FM/AM tuning Use this feature to select th e desired FM radio program by program type. Y ou can use this feature for the FM radio programs prov iding the Radio Data System information signals. 1 Press BA ND on the fr ont panel (or remote control) repeatedl y to select “FM” as the reception band.
21 En FM/AM tuning TUNING 4 Press SELECT on the front panel (or remote contro l) to confirm the selection of the prog ram type . 5 Rotate PRESET/TUNING (or press TUNING k / n ) to start searching for the correspondi ng Radio Da ta System stations.
22 En FM/AM tuning ■ Manual stat ion preset Use this feat ure to store the desired FM and AM stations to the preset station memory manually . 1 T une into the desired FM/AM station. See page 19 for tuning instructions. 2 Press MEMOR Y on the front panel (or remote contr ol).
