En 16 Connect a TV to the unit. The video signals input to the unit are output to the TV . TV audio can also be output from the unit. The recommended way to connect a TV varies depending on types and functi ons of video input jacks on the TV . Select how to connect the TV to the unit while referring to the TV manual.

En 22 ■ Analog video connection Connect video devices to the unit w ith a vid eo pin cable and an audio cable (any of a coaxial cable, an optical cable and stereo pin cable.) Input jacks of the unit (A V3-6) are differ ent depending on the audio input jacks of the video devices.

En 24 C onnecting to the jack on the front panel Use the VIDEO AUX jacks on the front panel to temporarily connect devices such as a video camera and a game console. Be sure to stop the device an d turn down the volume before connecting it to the unit.
En 25 Use A V OUT jacks to connect video and audio recording devices. Selected incoming analog audio/video signals are output through A V OUT jacks. • When recording video/audio of the video device, use A V5-6 jacks or VIDEO A UX (VIDEO /A UDIO ) jacks of the unit to connect video devices.
En 26 The YP AO microphone (supplied) detects the status of speaker connections and the distance between th ese speakers and the listening position, and adjusts the volume balance and the tone settings automatically (YP AO: Y amaha Parame tric room Acoustic Optimizer).
En 27 Starting the measurement Start the measurement by following these steps. • YP AO measurement is not performed correctly when any obstacles are in the room. • While measuring, keep stuff in the cor ners or remove it from the room. It takes approximately 3 minutes to finish this measurement.
En 28 Confirming the measuremen t result Confirm the YP AO measurement result. 1 After measurement, press the cursor keys to select “Result, ” and then press ENTER. En 29 Error messages If any error message is displayed during the measurement, resolv e the problem and perfor m YP AO again. En 34 Enjoying sound field effects ( CINEMA DSP) This unit is equipped with a va riety of soun d programs that utiliz e Y amaha’ s original DSP technology (CINEMA DSP). It allows you to easi ly create sound fields like actual movie theaters or concert halls in your room.
En 35 ■ Sound programs/stereo reproduction suitable for audio cont ents (MUSIC) Include suitable sound programs for li stening to music sources such as CDs.
En 36 ■ Enjoying more spa tial sound fields (C INEMA DSP 3D) The CINEMA DSP 3D creates virtual speakers by using front speakers, center speakers and surround speakers, which brings you into a stereoscopic sound field.
En 37 Playback with out so und field eff ec ts (straight decoding mode) By using the straight decoding mode, sound s from each channel included in input sources are output from each speaker without sound field processing. When 2-channel sources such as CD are selected, they are played back by stereo sound through the fr ont left and right speakers.

En 65 ■ Dynamic Ra nge Selects the dynamic range adjustment method for audio bit stream (Dolby Digital and DTS) sign al play back. Settings ■ Max V olume Specifies the maximum volume level that is adjustable with VOLUME on the remote control or VOLUME on the front panel.

En 69 ■ Memory Guard Prohibits setting changes to pr event careless changes being made to the settings of the “Setup” menu, YP AO, and SCENE. Settings • If you try to set the protected items, “Memory Guard! (Memor y Guard!)” is display ed on the front display and TV monitor .
En 70 ❏ T V Audio Input Select the input source that receives audio signals from TV while the HDMI Control function is on. When using a TV that suppor ts the Audio Return Chann el function and the function is enabled, the audio input for the TV is assigned to the input source selected here.

En 76 ■ Operating e xternal devices When the remote control codes for external devices are assigned to an input selection key , the external device can b e controlled with the following keys after selecting the appropriate input source or SCENE.
