Make sure you insert the batteries according to the polarity markings (+ and –).

CONNECTING ANTENNAS 14 En T o enjoy radio on the recei ver , connect the supplied AM and FM antennas to the designated terminals. If there is a problem of weak radio w ave reception in your area or you want to impro ve radi o reception, we recommend that you use optional outdoor antennas.
CONNECTING EXTERNAL COMPONENTS 15 En English PREP ARA TION Y ou can conn ect va rious audio components, such as an MD play er , a tape deck or a Y AMAHA iPod universal dock to the receiv er . Also you can connect an MD reco rder or a CD recorder to the CD player using the DIGIT AL OUT jacks.
Connect ing Exte rnal Comp onents 16 En The receiv er (RX-E410) is equipped with the DOCK terminal on the rear panel that allows you to connect a Y AMAHA iPod uni versal dock (such as YDS-10 sold separately) where you can station your iP od and control play back of your iPod using the supplied remote control.
CONNECTING THE POWER CABLES 17 En English PREP ARA TION Once all connection s are complete, co nnect the po wer cable of the CD play er to the A C OUTLET(S) termin al on the rear of the recei v er (or the A C wal l outlet if the A C OUTLET(S) terminal is not a vailable), a nd then plug the po wer cable of the receiver into the A C wall outlet.
ADJUSTING THE CLOCK 18 En Before starting playback operation, follow the procedure belo w to adjust the clock sett ing of the receiver . 1 Press ST ANDBY/ON on the front panel of the receiver to turn on it. The front panel display lights up. 2 Press DISPLA Y.

Basic Disc Playback Operations 23 En English BA S I C OPERA TIONS ■ Playb ack i nformat ion for MP3 and WMA discs The follo wing information is av ailable during playback of an MP3 or WMA disc. y Scrolling display shows the song tit le, artist name, and album name of the selected item in sequence.
Basic Disc Playback Operations 24 En Y ou can repeat the pla yback of the selected item in a disc. 1 Play back the disc or track y ou want to repeat. 2 Press REPEA T to select the desired Repeat Play mode. Each time you press the key , the Repeat Play mode indicator in the CD player’ s front panel display changes as follo ws.

The PR OG indicator lights up and the program display appears in the CD player’ s front panel display .
FM/AM Tuning 26 En There are 2 tuning methods: automatic a nd manual. Automatic tuning is ef fecti ve when st ation signals are strong and there is no interference.
27 En FM/AM Tuning English TUNER OPERA TIONS Follo w the procedure belo w to preset radio stations automatica lly . 1 Rotate INPUT on the front pan el of the receiver to select “TUNER” as an input source. 2 Hold down MEMOR Y for more than two seconds.
28 En FM/AM Tuning Y ou can tune into any desired station simply b y selecting the preset station group and number under which it was stored (see page 27). 1 Rotate INPUT on the front panel of the receiver to select “TUNER” as an input source. 2 Press PRESET/BAND repeatedly so that the preset indicator lights up i n the fron t panel displa y .
29 En English TUNER OPERA TIONS Radio Data System (U.K. and Europe models only) is a data transmissi on system used by FM stations in man y countries. The Radio Data System function is carried out among the ne twork stations.
30 En Radio Data System Tuning (U.K . and Europe Models Only) 4 Press PTY SEEK ST ART to star t searc hing for a vailab le Radio Data System preset stations. If a station broadcasting the selected program type is found, the receiv er stops se archin g, and then program service name and the PTY HOLD indicator lights up in the front pane l display .
31 En Radio Data System Tuning (U.K. and Europ e Models Only) English TUNER OPERA TIONS ■ Additional CT (clock time) setting s Y ou can use CT information re ceived from the Radio Data System stations to adjust the built-in clock of the rece iv er .
SETTING THE TIMER 32 En The receiv er is equipped with 2 types of time r functions: clock time r and sleep timer . The clock timer automa tically turns the recei ver on or sets it to t he standb y mode at the specif ied time. The sleep timer sets the recei ver to the standby m ode after the sp ecif ied time elapses.
33 En Setting the Timer English O THE R OPERA TIONS The sleep timer sets the recei ver to the standby mode a fter the specif ied time elapses. Press SLEEP repeatedly to select the desired duration. Each time you press the key , the duration changes as follo ws.
SETTING THE AUTO-STANDBY MODE 34 En Y ou can turn on/off the auto-standby feature which automa tically set the system to th e standby mode if you do not operate the system for 30 minut es while the receiver is set to the CD input mode. (The defa ult setting is “A UTO ST ANDBY ON”.
35 En English O THE R OPERA TIONS In addition to controlling th e receiv er (RX-E410) and CD player (CDX-E4 10), you can operate your iPod stationed in a Y AMAHA iPod univ ersal dock conne cted to the receiver using the supplied remote control.
36 En Controlling iPod Once you hav e stationed your iPod in a Y AMAHA iPod uni versal dock (such as YDS-10 sold separately) connected to the DOCK terminal of the receiv er (see page 16), you can enjoy playback of your iPod using the supplied remote control.
