Ballast system adds 750 lb (340 kg) when full. Include this weight when making sure your load does not exceed the weight shown on the Maximum Capacities label.
1 -8 1 S AFETY I NFORMA TION S AFETY INFORMA TION The safe use and operation of this boat is dependent upon the use of proper oper ating techniques, as well as upon the common sense , good judgment, and expertise of the oper- ator . Ev ery oper ator should know the f ol lowing r equirements befor e operating the boat.
1 -9 S AFETY I NFORMA TION 1 REQUIRED EQUIPMENT The U.S . Coast Guard (USCG) has regulations which describe minimum standar ds of safety . Y ou must comply with these regulations , which apply t o boats like your boat which ar e less than 26 f eet long.
1 -1 0 1 S AFETY I NFORMA TION CRUISING LIMIT A TIONS • Scan constantly for people, objects, and other water craf t. Be aler t for conditions that limit your visibility or bloc k your vision of others . • Operate defensiv ely at saf e speeds and keep a saf e distance from peo- ple, objects, and other wat ercr aft.
1 -1 1 S AFETY I NFORMA TION 1 OPERA TIONAL REQUIREMENTS • All riders must wear a C oast Guar d appro ved personal f lotation device (PFD). • Eye prot ection is recommended to keep wind, wat er , and glare from the sun out of your ey es while you oper - ate your boat.
1 -1 2 1 S AFETY I NFORMA TION • Att ach the engine shut-off cord (lan- yar d) to the PFD and keep it free from the steering wheel or other controls so that the engine stops if the operator accidentally leav es the helm. F ailure to att ach the engine shut-of f cord could r esult in a r un- aw ay boat if the operat or is ejected.

1 -1 6 1 S AFETY I NFORMA TION RULES WHEN ENCOUNTERING VESSELS There are three main situations that you may encounter with other vessels which could lead to a collision unless the Steering Rules are f ollow ed: Meeting: you are approaching another vessel head-on.

The shift le ver controls the dir ection of tra v el. The drive line on the boat is direct drive , so jet thrust is alwa ys being pro- duced while the engines are running.

2-1 1 F EA TURES & F UNCTIONS 2 The Depth Finder continuall y monitors and display s a reading of wat er depths from 2.5 to 200 feet (0.8 to 61 meter s). The instrument calculates the depth by emit ting sound signals and measuring how long it takes for the sound to “echo ” of f the bot tom.

When the wind- shield is open, be sure to secure it with the ret aining strap to keep it from moving while underwa y or trailering.

3-1 O PERA TION 3 FUEL AND OIL GA SOLINE • Gasolineandgasoline vapor sare extre mely f la mma bl e . T o avoid fir es and explosions and to reduce the risk of injury when refueling, follo w these instructions. • Gasoline is poisonous and can cause injury or death.
3-2 3 O PERA TION Additiv e, a vailab le from your Y amaha dealer , is f or mulated t o remo ve e xisting deposits and, when used continuousl y , pre vent ne w ones fr om f or ming, while also helping t o keep fuel injectors and other fuel sy stem components clean for proper performance and longer engine lif e.
3-3 O PERA TION 3 2) If the lev el is at least at the minimum le v el “L ” mar k on the dipstick, but less than the “F” mark , the engine can be operat ed. NO TICE: If the level is abov e the “F” mark, the engine is ov erfilled. Consult a Y a ma ha de al er t o ha ve oi l e xt ra ct e d from the engine to avoid damage.

3-5 O PERA TION 3 TIP: P re-operation chec ks should be made each time the boat is used. These chec ks can be completed in a shor t time. It is worth the time spent t o ensure safety and reliability . CHECK POINTS Steer ing Make sure the wheel is not loose.
3-6 3 O PERA TION Fir e Extinguisher Make sur e the f ire e xtinguisher is aboard and full. See the instructions supplied by the fir e extinguisher manu- f acturer to determine proper indication of condition. The f ire extinguisher canist er is locat ed inside the driv er -side console st orage compar tment.
3-7 O PERA TION 3 Jet Intakes Jet Thr ust Intakes Intak e Grat es Bef ore launching the boat, carefull y check the jet intak es under the boat f or w eeds, debris, or anything else that might r estr ict the intak e of wat er . If the intakes are clogged, cavit ation could occur , reducing jet thr ust, and possibl y damaging jet pump par ts.
3-8 3 O PERA TION A one-wa y check val ve in the drain pr e- vents water from tra veling back to the deck during mooring or while moving in re ver se. Bilge Pump – Y our boat is equipped with a drainage sy stem that channels wat er that enter s the boat from the storage compar t- ments to the bilge under the engine compar tment.
3-9 O PERA TION 3 Engine Compartment Gas oli ne vap ors can exp lode. Bef or e starting the engines, operate the bl o w er for at le ast 4 min ute s and chec k the engine compar tment bilge for gasoline vapors. Do not star t the eng ine s if y ou can sm ell fuel v apor s in the engine compar tment or if there are any loose electrical connections.

Star t the engine, and then remo ve the engine shut-of f s witch clip , and verify that the engine stops .
3-1 1 O PERA TION 3 BIMINI™ T OP (21 2SS) Raising fr om the full y collapsed st orage position. 1) With an assist ant, raise the top and secure the rear suppor t poles to the rear suppor t pole mounts with the lock pins. 2) Unzip and remo v e the storage cov er .
3-1 2 3 Oper ation Stor ing In The Upright P osition 1) Raise the r ear suppor t poles. 2) Unhook the front straps and pull the top to the back. 3) Roll the f abr ic around the frames and zip the storage cov er in place. Do not trailer the boat with the Bimini top in the fully ext ended or upright st ora g e positions.
3-1 3 Operation 3 BIMINI ™ T OP (21 2X MODEL) The Bimini top is nor mally cov ered and secured to the top rail of the W akeboard T ow er . T o deploy the top , follo w the steps below: 1) Unclip the t wo fast eners that hold the Bimini stor age cover and top to the Wak eboard T ower rail.
3-1 4 3 Oper ation BIMINI T OP EXTENSION Af ter erecting the Bimini top the top e xtension may be put up . At tach the suppor t pole ① to the r ear mounts ② on the W ake Board T ow er bases. Raise the t op e xtension and zip the three sections of the fabric to the main top .

3-1 6 3 Oper ation 2) At tach the engine shut-of f cord t o your PFD . Install the cor d clip onto the engine shut-of f switch by push- ing the clip g roo ve ov er the nut beneath the knob . Be sur e the cor d is not wrapped ar ound the st eer ing wheel or tangled in the controls.

3-1 8 3 O PERA TION BREAK-IN PROCEDURE The engine break-in period is essential to allow the v arious components of the engine t o wear and polish themselv es to the corr ect operating clearances. This ensures proper perf or mance and promot es longer component life.
3-1 9 O PERA TION 3 DRIVING Y OUR BO A T GETTING T O KNO W Y OUR BO A T Operating y our boat requir es skills acquired through practice ov er a period of time. T ake the time t o learn the basic techniques well bef ore at tempting mor e dif ficult maneuver s.
3-20 3 O PERA TION TURNING THE BO A T • Do not pull the throt tle lev ers back to idle when trying to steer aw ay from objects – you need throt tle to steer . • Be sure passengers ar e hold - ing on bef ore making t urns.
3-21 O PERA TION 3 TURNING LEFT TURNING RIGHT BO A TING WITH P ASSENGERS When passengers are on board, make sur e they are seated and hold- ing on before y ou start to acceler- ate. An unprepared passenger could lose balance and fall. Y our boat is designed for one operator and up to eight passengers only .
3-22 3 O PERA TION 1) Be sur e engines are off , then move to the stern of the boat. Pull out the ladder and climb up onto the step . Return the ladder to the sto wed position bef ore climbing int o the boat. 2) Climb up onto the swim platf or m, then sit in one of the seats provided.
3-23 O PERA TION 3 ST OPPING • Y ou will lose steering contr ol if y ou completel y pull the throt tles back to idle. Y ou need throt tle to steer .
3-24 3 O PERA TION W ind or current pushing boat tow ard dock: Slowl y maneuv er to a shallow angle and allow the boat to move to ward the dock. No wind or curr ent: Approach the dock at a shallow angle. Secure the bow t o the dock, then use engine thr ust or a boat hook t o gently mov e the ster n to the dock.
3-25 O PERA TION 3 ANCHORING Alw ays anchor fr om the bow . Anchoring fr om the st ern will make the boat unstead y . A str ong cur- rent can pull a st ern-anchor ed boat underwat er . Select an anchor appropriat e for your boat and wat er conditions.
3-26 3 O PERA TION CROSSING W AKES AND SWELLS Y ou will not alw a ys hav e flat, smooth wat er . There will be s wells and wakes from other boats, etc. The best wa y to cross wakes and swells is with the least jolt to you and the boat. Small sw ells are not as dif ficult to cr oss as larger swells or w akes.
3-27 O PERA TION 3 POS T -OPERA TION CHECKS POST -OPERA TION CHECKS These post-operation procedur es are de v eloped to help preser ve the long- term appearance and reliability of your boat. P erform these procedur es as soon as possible aft er the boat is loaded back on the trailer af ter the da y’ s use.
3-28 3 O PERA TION 5) Remo ve hull drain plug and the engine compartment drain plugs . Rinse the engine compar tment with a small amount of fresh water . Be car eful not t o get w ater on the carbur etor or electr ical components. Allow any wat er in the bilge t o drain out.
3-29 O PERA TION 3 TR AILERING A void accident and injur y from improper trailer ing: • The trailer must be matc hed for the boat’ s weight and hull. • T he towin g vehi cle must h ave the capacity of pulling the load.
3-30 3 O PERA TION • Check wheel bearings and wheel lug nuts befor e each trip. • Check tail, br ake, and turn signal lights f or proper operation. • Secure the bow of the boat to the trailer with the winch line and also with the chain.
3-31 O PERA TION 3 LA UNCHING As a cour tes y to other boater s, prepar e your boat f or launching befor e using the ramp . Each launch may hav e par ticular dif fer - ences, such as ramp angle, pre vailing wind, wa ves , and wat er curr ents. If possible , watch a couple of boater s launch their boats f irst to notice any prob lems.
3-32 3 O PERA TION 3) Make sure the boat is center ed on the support rails and is headed straight f or the bow stop (b umper board). Ease the boat f orwar d until the bow rests against the bow stop . NOTICE: The winch line is not designed to pull the boat ont o the trailer .

4-1 M AINTENANCE & C ARE 4 S T ORA GE Storing y our boat f or pr olonged peri- ods of time, such as winter stor age, requir es pre vent ative maintenance to ensure against deterioration. It is advis- able to hav e the boat ser viced by an authorized Y amaha Boat dealer befor e stor age.
4-2 4 M AINTENANCE & C ARE 4) T urn of f the water supply , then drain residual w ater from the exhaust sy stem by alternately pushing the throt tle le ver up t o half throt tle and back f or 1 0 t o 1 5 seconds. Shut of f engine. Nev er have the wat er on when the engine is not r unning.
