After striking a foreign object, stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire and ground against the engine.
5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR TILLER NOTE: References to right or left side of the tiller are determined from be hind the unit in the op erating position. Removing Unit From Cart on • Remove stap les, break glue on top flaps, or cut tape at carton en d and peel along to p flap to open carton.
6 Attaching Clutch Control Cable(s) Forward Cable Attach the end of the forward cable t o the bracket underneath the handle assembly as follows. The forward clutch cable is the cable wh ich is attached closer to the rear of the tiller.
7 SECTION 3: KNOW YOUR TILLER WARNING: Read, understand, and follow all instructions and warnings on the machine and in this manua l before operating. Throttle Control The throttle control lever is located on the engine. It controls the engine speed and sto ps the engine.
8 SECTION 4: OPERATING YOUR TILLER Gas and Oil Fill up Service the eng ine with gasoline and oil as instructed in the separate engine manual packed with your tiller. Read inst ructions c arefully. Starting Engine WARNING: Be sure no one is standing in front of the tiller while the engine is running or being started.
9 Removing End Caps The end cap, which are used to avoid tilled soil from overflowing ont o unwanted areas, ar e removable from the outer axle. Remove the hair pin clip and clevis pin that is securing each end cap an d slide end cap off t he axle. See Figure 8.
10 Handle Pressure Further control of tilling depth and travel speed can be obtained by variation of pressure on the handles. • A downward pr essure on the hand les will reduce the working depth an d increase the forward speed. • An upward pressure on the handles will increase the working depth an d reduce the forward speed.
11 SECTION 5: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it against the engine bef ore performing any adjust ments. Engine Adjustment Refer to the separat e engine manual for en gine adjustment instructions. Wheel Adjustments To adjust the whee l yoke and wheel position, refe r to the Operating Se ction.
12 Cleaning Tine Ar ea Clean the underside of the tine shield afte r each use. The dirt wa shes off th e tines easie r if rinsed off immediately instead of after it dries. Alwa ys towel dry the tiller afterwards and appl y a light coat of oil or silicone to prevent rust ing or water damage.
