6 ASSEMBL Y T o hire an authorized service technician to assemble the treadmill, call toll-free 1-800-445-2480. Assembly requires two persons. Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials; do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed.
2. Hav e a sec ond per so n ho ld the Base (71) in the position shown. Identify the Right Han dr ail (6) which has a large hole near t he lower end. Hold the R ight Handrail (6) so that the bend is in the position shown. Insert two Handrail Bolts (12) into the bracket on the Right Handr ail.
8 5 . Hold the Console (1) near the Right Handrail (6). T ouch the Right Handrail to discharge any static. Untie the wire from the end of the Wire Harness (22). Insert the end of the Wire Harness through the three looped plastic ties. Next, press the end of the Wire Harness into the connector on the back of the Console ( 1) in the location shown.
9 9. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. Keep the included hex key in a secure place. The hex key is used to adjust the walking belt (see page 17). To protect the floor or carpet, place a mat under the treadmill.
OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
1 1 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more effective. While the manual mode of the console is selected, the speed of the treadmill can be changed with the touch o fa button. As you exercise, the displays will provide continuous exercise feedback.
12 H OW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 1 1. Select the manual mode. When the key is in- serted, the manual mode will be selected. If you have selected a crosstrainer program, reselect the manual mode by pressing the Programs (PRGMS.
13 H OW TO USE A CROSSTRAINER PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 11. S elect one of the crosstrainer programs.
14 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the t readmill. 1. Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow at the right.
15 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the frame down until it is past the latch pin. 2. Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands , and lower it to the floor.
16 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
17 PROBLEM: The walking belt slows when walked on S OLUTION: a . Use only a single-outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 10. b . If the walking belt is overtightened, treadmill perfor- mance may decrease and the walking belt may be- come damaged.
18 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your ex- ercise program. For more detailed exercise informa- tion, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician.
19 SUGGESTED STRETCHES T he correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1 . Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
