5 Status Indicators DISPLA Y ICON DESCRIPTION No icons The Jetpack is pow ered o or not r eceiving pow er , or the screen is in pow er-saving mode. Network Signal Strength More bars indicate mor e signal strength. Activity Indicator If this icon is displayed , data is being transf erred between your Jetpack and connected device(s).
6 CAROUSEL IC ON Wi-F i Scroll and select the icon to display the Wi-F i name, password and URL. SIM If this icon is displayed , there is no SIM car d installed. If this icon is displayed , your SIM is locked . Real-time data usage meter will not display .
7 P ow er M anagement Y our Jetpack will work from its char ged battery alone, or when the device with the installed battery is plugged into a pow er source. • Battery — Charge the battery by plugging in the wall charger . While the battery is charging the battery charging icon displays .
8 Caring f or Y our Jetpack Like any electronic device , the Jetpack must be handled with care to ensure reliable oper ation. Novat el Wireless r ecommends the f ollowing guidelines: • Pr otect the Jetpack from liquids, dust , and exc essive temper atures .

10 A cc essing the Network 4G L TE With L TE bandwidth you can get the broadband speed y ou require to work eciently outside the home or oce. Y ou can connec t to the Internet, access y our corporate intranet, check y our email and download attachments at speeds tha t are up to 10 times fast er than 3G*.
11 Using Y our Jetpack f or the F irst Time Y our SIM Card and bat ter y are pre-instal led. T o get star ted: ➊ Conrm your c omputer meets the minimum system r equirements. (See Syst em Requirements on page 3). ➋ F ully charge the battery. (See Char ging the Battery on page 12).
12 Charg ing the Batter y IMPORT ANT Befor e you use your Jetpack, be sure to charge the batt er y for at least thr ee hours to ensure a full initial char ge. When fully charged , the batter y has up to 20 hours of lif e. T o charge the battery : ➊ Connect the micro USB end of the charger int o the charging port of the Jetpack.
13 ➍ Replace the cov er by setting it on the Jetpack where the not ches align, then pr ess on the cov er until it clicks into plac e and is at across the entir e bottom sur face.
14 Replacing the 4G L TE SIM Card Y our SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card is a small rectangular plastic card that stores y our phone number and impor tant inf ormation about your wireless service. Y our Jetpack comes with the SIM card and battery already installed.
15 T o install a new 4G L TE SIM card: ➊ Remove the batt er y cov er located on the underside of the Jetpack . ➋ If necessar y , remove the SIM car d from the outer card, being car eful not to touch the gold- colored c ontacts. ➌ Hold the card with the gold-colored contact points facing down.
16 Batter y T ips W ARNING ! Always use only approved batteries and chargers with y our Jetpack. The warranty does not cover damage caused by non-appr oved batteries and/or chargers. • It normally takes at least three hours to fully charge the battery with the wall charger .
17 P ower the Jetpack On and O Po wer On • Pr ess the P ower Button until the Jetpack display ligh ts up . After the initial startup screens display , the Home screen and menu options are a vailable. Po wer Off • Pr ess and hold the P ower Button until the display sho ws Mi Fi .
18 C onnec ting to Y our Jetpack Now you can c onnect your Wi-F i enabled device to your Jetpack using Wi-F i. Y our computer , tablet, or other Wi-F i enabled devices need Wi-F i capability and Internet browser software.
19 T ip! The steps t o connect to a Wi-F i net work var y depending on your operating syst em and whether you use the native applica tion or third-part y software. Generally , you click an icon in the Windows notification area wher e you can select View A vailable W ireless Networks, or click the Airport icon in the menu bar on a Mac.
20 Using Y our Jetpack A fter Setup is Complete Y ou can use the Jetpack as a wireless mobile hotspot to connect your c omputer and up to a total of 15 Wi-F i enabled devices to the mobile broadband network. The Jetpack is power ed on as soon as you press and hold the po wer button and the display turns on.
21 ➎ Click Save Changes . Change Wi-F i Name/Password ➏ T o change your Admin P assword fr om My Jetpack Home, select Manage My MiFi > Change my Jetpack A dmin Password . ➐ Enter your curr ent Admin P assword in the En ter current passw ord eld.
22 ➒ Click Save Changes . Change Jetpack Admin P assword.
23 Using the Jetpack User Inter face F rom the Jetpack displa y you can check y our Jetpack status, view y our current data usage , and access an icon-based menu b y using the Navigation and Select buttons.
24 T o access the icon-based menu options: • F rom the Home scr een, use the navigation butt ons to mov e left or right to highlight the desired Menu option, then press the select button to open the highlight ed option. Continue to press the select button to mo ve through an y additional screens.

26 Managing Y our Jetpack Manage, monitor , and customize your Jetpack settings directly on the Jetpack, or by using the Jetpack Admin w ebsite. On the Jetpack Display ➊ P ower on y our Jetpack by pressing and holding the power butt on until the display lights and the Home screen display s.
27 On the Jetpack Admin W ebsite T o connect to the Jetpack Admin website and cust omize your Jetpack settings: ➊ Connect your computer or W i-F i enabled device to your Jetpack to acc ess the Internet. 33 Customiz e my Wi-F i Settings Clicking on Customize m y Wi-F i Settings takes you to the Jetpack Settings page Wi-F i menu where you can customiz e Wi-F i proles and view details about the devices connected to your Jetpack. (See Wi-F i on page 59.
34 Change my Jetpack A dmin Passwor d Clicking on Change Admin Passw ord takes you to the Jetpack Admin P assword section of the Settings page, where y ou can change the Admin P assword . (See Jetpack Admin P assword on page62.) The default Admin passw ord is admin .
35 ➎ Enter the answer t o the selected security question in the Answer Security Question eld. Jetpack Settings - Answer Security Question ➏ Click Save Changes . ➐ A message displays conrming that y our password has been changed. NO TE Th e next time you sign in to Jetpack Settings, you will need t o use the new password .
36 Set GPS Options Clicking on S et GPS Options will take you to the Jetpack Settings page where y ou can congure the GPS settings for y our Jetpack. T o congure your Jetpack GPS settings: ➊ Slide the ON/OFF button to ON to activate the Jetpack loca tion ser vices and display the GPS Agr eement.
37 ➌ Select the desired option from the T urn off drop down menu . The choices are A lwa ys on or T urn off on pow er down . GPS - Turn O Options ➍ NMEA is a standard method of pro viding a GPS data stream in Windows and other computing platf orms.

43 ➐ Select what device you will take with you fr om the Devices panel . Select the brand from the Selec t Brand dr op down menu, and the model fr om the Select Model drop down menu. ➑ Click Show me what I need t o display an ov erview of your trip information.

46 Community F orums Clicking on Community Forums takes y ou to Community Forums on the V erizon Wireless w ebsite where you can select the type of device you ar e inter ested in learning about and read questions and answers from other devic e users.
47 Data Usage Data Usage allo ws you to quickly check your data usage and billing cycle directly on the Jetpack display , or on the Jetpack Admin w ebsite. On the Jetpack Display ➊ Use the real-time data usage met er on the Home screen to check y our data usage and billing cycle schedule.
48 On the Jetpack Admin W ebsite The Data Usage page allo ws you t o obtain your curren t estimated data usage , and to access My Acc ount & T ools. Click Data U sage on the Menu panel to display the Data Usage page and ac cess information specic to y our par ticular plan.
49 C onnec ted Devices Connected Devices allo ws you t o view and edit Wi-F i enabled devices currently connected to your Jetpack network, as well as any devices curren tly blocked. NO TE An audio alert automatically sounds whenever a device connects to your Jetpack Wi-F i network .
50 On the Jetpack Admin W ebsite The Connected Devices page allow s you to view and edit devic es that are curr ently connected to your Jetpack. Y ou can also view and unblock any blocked devices .
51 Edit a C onnected Device T o edit a connected device: ➊ Click the pencil tool. A page opens allo wing you to edit a c onnected device. Jetpack Connected Devices - Edit ➋ Select the appropriate change from the C onnected Devices dropdown menu . Jetpack Connected Devices - Select Device T ype ➌ Click S ave to nish editing the device.
52 Change the Maximum Number of Connected Devices T o change the maximum number of connected devices: ➊ Click Change Max Connections on the Connected Devices page . Change Maximum Number of Connected Devices ➋ The Jetpack Settings Wi-F i page opens.
53 Block ed Devices The Blocked Devices menu contains the f ollowing menu options: • Block Button — Click Block to disconnect a connected device and prev ent it from reconnecting.
54 • Unblock Button — Click Unblock to unblock a pr eviously blocked device, fr eeing it to connect again. The unblocked device is deleted from the Block ed List , and will reappear in the Connected Devices list when it c onnects.
55 Jetpack Settings Jetpack Settings allow you to make devic e changes such as screen brightness and audio ON/OFF , and to select mobile network options for your Jetpack. On the Jetpack Display Wi-F i ➊ On the Home screen, naviga te to the Settings icon and pr ess the select button to open the Settings select screen and display Settings options.
56 ➍ Navigate t o the Exit option, or press/hold the select button to r eturn to the Home screen. 59 Wi-F i The Wi-F i sec tion allows y ou to enable Wi-F i devices to connect to the Jetpack Wi-F i network , to change the Basic Wi-F i S ettings including Wi-F i Name/Passw ord , to select 2.4 GHx and 5 GH z Band Settings, and to turn ON/OFF Wi-F i Options.
60 T o change the Band Settings : ➊ Select the desired Band Setting from the drop down menu. The choices are Dual band (2.4 GHz/5 GH z), 2.4 GHz only , and 5 GH z only .
61 Jetpack The Jetpack section allows you t o change the Jetpack Admin P assword , select device prefer ences , check current software version and check f or updates, backup your Jetpack settings, and set GPS pref erences .
62 Jetpack Admin P assword The Jetpack Admin P assword page allo ws you t o display , hide and/or change the Admin P assword . Display or Hide the Admin P assword Slide the ON/OFF button to ON to displa y the Jetpack Admin P assword on the devic e or OFF to hide the Jetpack Admin P assword on the device .

64 Pref erences The P ref erences page c ontains the follo wing options: • Allow Settings Changes — T urn on to allow settings to be changed fr om the Jetpack display . • Universal Char ging — Use this fea ture to char ge your cellphone or similar devic e.
65 Soft ware Upda te The Software Update page contains the f ollowing sec tions: • Curren t software version — Displa ys inf ormation for the curren t software version, date of last check for updat es and the number of updates curren tly available .
66 Backup and Restore The Backup and Restore page c ontains the follo wing sections: • Backup — Allows y ou to sav e your Jetpack settings to your computer . Y ou must enter your Admin P assword in the A dmin Passw ord eld and click Download to sav e settings to your computer .
67 T o save your Jetpack settings t o your comput er: ➊ Enter your A dmin Passwor d in the Admin P assword eld . ➋ Click Download to sa ve y our current Jetpack settings to a desig nated location on y our computer .
68 GPS The GPS page contains the f ollowing sec tions: • GPS ON/OFF — Use this contr ol to turn ON/OFF the GPS fea ture . • T urn off — Allows y ou to set when the GPS rec eiver will turn o , once it is on. • GPS ov er Wi-F i (NMEA) — Allo ws you t o download and install the GPS ov er Wi-F i driver for your computing platf orm.
69 T o ac tivat e GPS over Wi-F i (NMEA): ➊ Click GPS ov er Wi-F i (NMEA) . ➋ Click the T urn ON GPS ov er Wi-F i check box. ➌ Click Download GPS ov er W i-Fi Drivers and select the appropriate driver fr om the list of available drivers . S av e the driver to the desir ed location on your c omputer .
70 Adv anced The Adv anced section allows you t o change the Jetpack advanced settings . The Advanc ed page provides network, manual DNS, SIM, rewall , MA C lter and LAN settings, as well as options for conguring por t ltering and f or warding applica tions.
71 The Adv anced page contains the f ollowing menu options: • Networks (See Networks on page 72.) • Manual DNS (See Manual DNS on page 74.) • SIM (See SIM on page 75.) • Fir ewall (See F irewall on page 76.) • MA C Filt er (See MAC F ilter on page 77.
72 Networks The Networks menu contains the f ollowing sec tions: • Cellular Da ta — Allows y ou to turn o cellular data to preven t all internet trac fr om using the Jetpack mobile broadband connection. • Pref erred network t echnology — Allows y ou to selec t the network technologies whivh will be used.
73 T o turn o cellular data and preven t all internet trac fr om using the Jetpack mobile broadband connection: ➊ Slide the Cellular Data ON/OFF butt on to OFF . ➋ Click Confirm on the C onrm warning pop-up window . NO TE All internet connections will be immediately terminated when you click C onfirm.
74 Manual DNS The Jetpack automatically selects a Domain Name Ser ver (DNS). The Manual DNS menu allows y ou to manually select up to two DNS IP addresses . Jetpack Settings Advanced - Manual DNS T o manually selec t a Domain Name Ser ver: ➊ Click the box next to Enable manual DNS .
75 SIM The SIM menu giv es you settings and inf ormation about the Jetpack's Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card. The SIM card inside your Jetpack can be locked with a PIN code f or additional secur ity . I f locked, the PIN code must be ent ered bef ore the Jetpack can connect to the Internet.
76 Fir ewall The Jetpack rew all determines which Internet trac is allowed . The F irewall menu contains the following sections: • VPN Passthr ough — T urns ON/OFF the VPN featur e and allows or disallows connected devices to establish a VPN tunnel.
77 MA C Filt er The MA C Filter allo ws you t o specify which devices can access the Jetpack W i-F i net work. ON/OFF — T urns the MAC F ilter ON/OFF . Before turning on, ensure that the A llowed Devices list is not empty . W hen turning on, any C onnected Device which is not in the Allowed Devices list will immediately be disconnected.
78 LAN The LAN page giv es you settings and inf ormation about the Jetpack's network. The LAN menu contains the f ollowing sections: • IPv4 • IP address — The IP address f or the Jetpack . • Subnet mask — The subnet mask network setting for the Jetpack.
79 Jetpack Settings Advanced - LAN P ort Filtering P ort Filtering allows y ou to block outgoing Internet connections and permit only allowed applications to acc ess the Internet. Y ou can also customize a list of allow ed applications which permits only cer tain prog rams to connect to the Internet.
80 Jetpack Settings Advanced - P or t Filtering T o selec t the applications y ou wish to allow: ➊ Mark the check box t o the left of the application. The choices are Email (POP3, IMAP , SM TP), FTP , HT TP , HT TPS, and T elnet. ➋ Click Add C ustom Application t o add a new custom application to the list of allo wed applications.
81 The Cust om P or t Filtering page uses check bo xes to turn on por t ltering for cust om applications. Similar t o the Applications list, you must turn on cust om applications so they can connect to the Internet.
82 P ort Forwarding P ort Forwarding allows incoming tr ac from the Internet to be f or warded to a par ticular computer or device on your Wi-F i network.
83 Universal Char ging Universal Char ging allows y ou to charge y our phone or other device using your Jetpack. Y ou can also set battery charging limits, check current char ging availability , and customize your device pref erences .
84 W i-F i P rot ec ted Setup ( WPS) WPS is a system that allo ws Wi-F i devices to connect to a Wi-F i net work without having t o manually enter the network key , and is accessible through the Jetpack displa y.
85 On the Jetpack Admin W ebsite T o turn on the WPS system on y our Jetpack: ➊ Select Jetpack S ettings > Wi-F i Options . ➋ Mark the WPS check box, then click Sav e Changes .
86 Sof t war e Update Soft ware Upda te allows you to view the curr ent software version and when the last check was made for updat es, lists av ailable updates , and provides an upda te history . Y ou can also download and install a new update using your Jetpack devic e.
87 Messages Messages displays the number of unopened V erizon system messages sent to your Jetpack, and allows y ou to read and r etain or delete each message. On the Jetpack Display T o display unread messages: ➊ On the Home screen, scroll t o the Messages icon and press the select button to open the rst unread message .
88 On the Jetpack Admin W ebsite The Jetpack Messages page displays all existing V erizon system messages, and allo ws you t o delete messages individually or all messages at one time.
89 ➋ T o delete all messages at one time, click Delete A ll Messages at the bottom of the page . Jetpack Messages - Delete All.
90 P ar ental C ontrols Par ental C ontrols options are available on the Jetpack A dmin website, and allow y ou to block or allow access t o specied sites. The block/allow function can be applied to all devices or specied devices only . The P arental C ontrols page includes the following sections: • Summar y (See Summar y on page 90.
91 ➌ Click Save Changes t o update and sav e the revised Block List. Jetpack Par ental Controls Site List - Block List Add T o delete a site from the Blocked List: ➊ Select the Block List button to display the current list of blocked sites . ➋ Select the Delete check box f or the site you w ant to delete .
92 T o allow access to a specied sit e: ➊ Select the Allow List button to display the curr ent list of allowed sit es. ➋ Click Add W ebsite to display a new eld wher e you can enter the domain name of an additional site to allow . Repeat until y ou hav e entered all sit es you wan t to allow .
93 Device List The P arental Contr ols Device List section allows you t o turn the Device List ON/OFF and identify which devices will use the Site F ilter . • If the Device List is turned ON, only devices listed and selected will use the Site F ilter .
94 About Jetpack About Jetpack displays inf or mation about y our Jetpack, including I nternet and roaming sta tus, model and version, wireless and IMEI number , and batter y charge lev el.
95 On the Jetpack Admin w ebsite The About Jetpack page allow s you to view detailed inf or mation about Jetpack int ernet status, device specic information, diag nostics, tr oubleshooting and suppor t. The About page con tains the following menu options: • Internet Status (See Internet Status on page 95.
96 Internet Status The Internet Status section has the following options: • Status — The status of the Internet connection, usually Connected or Disconnected . • Network name — The name of the network to which this Jetpack is curren tly connected.
97 Jetpack Info The Jetpack Info page contains detailed inf ormation about the Jetpack . The Jetpack Info page contains the f ollowing sections: • Manufacturer — The manufac turer of the Jetpack. • Model — The model number or name of the Jetpack.
98 Diagnostics The Diagnostics page show s information about the Jetpack rm ware and other sy stem-level information. Y ou can also view the system log . This page is used mostly for troubleshooting and is not required f or normal operation. The Diagnostics page contains the follo wing sec tions: • Modem (See Modem on page 99.
