5 This Reference Guide explains e verything you need to kn ow about your new Tom Tom Golfer watch. If you want a quick read of the essentials, we recommend that you read Getting started . This covers downloading TomTom MySp orts Connect and usi ng the desk dock.
6 Be fore you start playing golf, it's a g ood idea to charge your watch, download any softwa re up dates and download QuickGP Sfix. Note : QuickGPSfix helps you r watch get a GPS fix and f ind your location quickly. 1. Download TomTom MySports Connect from tomtom.

8 About your watch When you use your watch, you start from the clock screen. This screen shows the time and date . The h our number is shown slightly dimmed and the minutes are shown brighter so you c an see the precise time more clearly. Use the button to move Up, D own, Left or Right to oth er screens on your w atch.
9 Do not expose your watc h to strong chemicals suc h as gasoline, cleaning s olvents, acetone, alcohol, or insect repellen ts. Chemicals can damage the watch’s seal, case, and finish. Using the desk dock You can use the desk d ock when your watch is in th e wrist strap or you can remove your watch from the wrist strap first.
10 Performing a reset Soft reset A soft reset is performed each time you disconnect your watch from a wall charge r or computer. To perform a soft reset on your watch, follow these steps: 1. Connect your watch to a wall charger or compu ter. Wait until your watch sh ows a battery symbol.
11 Important : When you perform a fac tory reset, do not disconnect your watch before MySports Connect has finished restoring y our watch. Installin g the software on your wa tch takes several minutes. You then need t o setup your watch in M ySports Connect before yo u can install the golf courses again.
12 Quick Start: Playing your first hole To play your first hole, d o the following: 1. From the clock screen, move R ight. Your watch shows Please wai t . When a GPS fix is found, you see a list of nearby golf c ourses. 2. Move Up or Down to sele ct a course, then move R ight to start a roun d.

15 Note that a global update may take about an hour to compl ete. Pausing and stopping a round During a round of golf, m ove Left to stop the clock and pause your round. Your wa tch shows the elapsed time and dist ance walked so far on y our round. To restart your round again, m ove Right.
16 About laying up A layup shot is made from the fairway after the drive, but due t o th e presenc e of a haz ard, yo u hav e to deliberately make the s hot shorter than usua l or more accurate.
17 As you walk the hole towards the pin, yo ur current distance fr om the first L200 marker on the right-hand side of the watch screen reduces. When you reach a layup marker, the layup marker dis appears from the scree n. The default distances for t he layup markers are 100, 150, 200.
18 About greens A green, or putting green, is an a rea of closely trimmed gr ass surrounding t he hole or pin. Holing out or getting the ball into the hole with the minimum number of strokes possible is the main aim of playing golf. The green allows players to putt or make precision s trokes using a putter.
19 Approaching the green using your watch As seen from the example bel ow, the shape of the green on your watch mirrors the sh ape of the actual green that you appr oaching. Any surrounding hazards are shown as patterns. W ater is shown using a wave pattern and bunkers as a dotted pattern.
20 Layup and green views As you approach the green , move Up or Down to swap betwee n the layup screen an d the green view as shown below. Once you have passed the last l ayup marker, the watch aut omatically shows only the vi ew of the green.
21 About hazards A hazard is an area of a g olf course which provide s a difficult obstacle for th e golfer to negotiate. A course may include water hazar ds such as lakes and rivers, man -made hazards such as bunkers, and natural hazards such as trees or thick vegetati on.
22 Understanding hazards on your watch Your TomTom Golfer can show you nearby water hazar ds or bunkers that are within 3 00 metres (328 yards). On your watch, hazards are shown as a water or sand patt ern, with front and back distance measurements, such as 293 (back) and 278 (front) as shown below.
23 For example, the watch below i s showing a bunker 218 yards/metres on the right and a water hazard 278 yards/metres straight ah ead that you will nee d to hit the ball ove r - it is 15 yards/metres wide.
24 About scoring Your TomTom Golfer can be use d for normal stroke play, also known as medal play. This involve s counting the total numb er of strokes taken on e ach hole during a round, or series of rounds. The winner is the player who has taken the fewest number of strokes over the course of th e round, or rounds.

27 About settings From the clock screen, move down to open the Settings menu. These settings determine the overall behaviour of your w atch. The following settings are available for your watch: Cl.
28 4. Move right to start pairin g. 5. On your phone, start the MySports C onnect app and tap to connect. 6. When the name of your w atch appears, tap on it. 7. On your phone, enter the pin n umber shown on the watch, then tap Pair . Your watch is now paired with your phone or mobil e device.
29 Synchronising course in formation You can automatically synchronis e golf course information w ith your TomTom MySpo rts account by using this setting. From the clock screen on your watch, move down to open th e Settings screen, then select Phone and move right.
30 Vibrate/buzz for short tim e. You can turn both on or o ff, or turn only one on. Profile From the clock screen on your watch, move down to open th e Settings menu, then select Profile and move right to open th e Profile menu.
31 Your TomTom MySports account is a central stora ge location for all your sp orts information. To create an account, click the button in To mTom MySpo rts Connect, or go directly to the website: mysports.
32 TomTom MySports Connect d oes the following: Helps you set up your wat ch. Updates the software on your watch when new ve rsions become available. Updates golf course informati on on your watch. Transfers any settings yo u make on TomTom MySports t o your watch.
33 The TomTom MySports mobile app does the following: Updates golf course informati on. Updates the QuickGPSfix information on your watc h. Provides an alternative t o TomTom MySports C onnect for updating QuickGP Sfix.
34 B Bunker A bunker is a steep-sided hole or sh allow pit near the green or fairway that is usually fille d with sand. It can be more diffic ult to play a ball from sand than from grass and bunkers s ometimes have a raised lip which makes it difficult to hit the ball out of the bunker.
