Adjusting the Lens 36 Prepa rati ons With th e supplie d or optiona l exclusi ve 1/2-inc h EX Mount lens, the flange foca l length can be adjust ed automati cally. Notes • If a subject of i nsufficie nt contrast is used , or if the ca mcorder or su bject moves during t he adjustment , adjustment cannot be ma de properl y.
Adjusting the Lens 37 Prepa rati ons Remov ing the supplied lens To re move the supplied lens, p roceed as foll ows: 1 Set the lens moun t stop per swi tch to th e RELEASE pos ition. 2 While holding the lens , turn the lens mount lever up ward unti l it stops.

Adj usti ng th e Zoom 63 Recording Sett ing the Z OOM s witc h t o the M AN U pos itio n for Man ual Zoom mode activ ates the zoom ring. Rota te th e zoo m rin g to a djus t the z oom. Sett ing th e Z OOM sw itch to t he S ERVO p osit ion for Servo mo de activate s the power zoom .
Adjusting the Focus 64 Recording Note If you set “Z oom Speed (High/Low) ” of the CAMERA SET menu t o a value between 0 an d 9 for a low s peed, zo oming may not op erate smoothly, dependin g on the indivi dual charact eristics of th e lens or operating environ ments.
Adjusti ng the Focus 65 Recording Rotate the foc us ring for the best focus while observ ing the pict ure in the vi ewfind er. The rang e index of th e focus ring is e ffectiv e in Full MF mo d e. The distance s correspond to the focus ring po sitions.

Eliminatin g Picture Blu rring (St eady Shot) 67 Recording Whe n yo u se t th e M ACR O sw itch t o ON in A F or MF mode, M acro mode is ac tivated, pe rmitting you to adjust the foc us in a ra nge t hat in cludes the micro ar ea. The Macr o mode i s invalid in Full MF mode.
Reducing Flicke rs / Reducing Flicker s 68 Recording To redu ce flicke rs, tr y either of the follo wing two methods: Setting the sh utter spee d according to the po wer -supp ly fre quen cy Acti vate the el ectr oni c shu tter (p age 59) an d set the shutter speed acco rding to the pow er supply frequen cy.
Setti ng the Time Data 69 Recording Time data, s uch as the ti mecode s, us er bits, and the cl ock time, are record ed with pic tures. The timec ode can be loc ked to an exter nal timecode generator. For details, se e “External Synchro nization” on p age 138.

Outputt ing the Color Bars and Refer ence Tone 73 Recording The camco rder can outpu t a colo r-bar signa l in place of the came ra picture. A 1- kHz r eferenc e tone i s out put wit h the color bar signal if “1kHz To ne” of “Au dio Input” (page 121) is set to “On ” with t he AUDIO SET menu.
Recording S hot Marks / Rec Re v ie w 74 Recording When y ou record shot marks for import ant scen es as subsid iary data, you ca n access the m arked points easily on a Shot Mark screen, w hich only displays scenes with shot mark s only. This incre ases editi ng effici ency.

The cam corder ha s four assigna ble buttons to which you ca n assign various fun ctions for conv enience.

Slo w & Quick Motion Recordin g 80 Recording Before starting Slow & Quick Motion recordi ng, make th e nece ssary se ttings in advance. 1 Press th e S&Q Motion dia l fo r more than 1 se cond . The camco rder enters the Slow & Quick Motion stand by status.
Freeze Mix: Image Alignment 81 Recording Using the F reeze Mix func tion, an image (stil l pictur e) of a record ed clip ca n be tempora rily superim posed on the current ca mera pict ure, permitt ing you to ea sily align im ages for nex t recordi ng.
Shot Tran sition 82 Recording The Shot Transition functio n helps you to easily obta in com plex pict ure eff ects by re gist eri ng camera se ttings or condi tions as a “shot” to be reproduc ed in a re cording sequenc e.
Shot Transit ion 83 Recording Note Camera operatio ns are di sabl ed when the shot transit ion ope ration m ode is Chec k or Exec ute. When ad justments ar e require d, set the mode to Store. Before yo u start recordi ng using the Shot Transiti on function, make th e nece ssary se ttings with the CA MERA S ET menu in advan ce.
Shot Tran sition 84 Recording P: Paramete r level T: Transition of tim e Start Ti mer Set the t ime from start of r ecordi ng to start of the shot transi tion. The coun tdown indica tion is d isplayed i n the shot-transi tion inf ormation a rea unt il the shot transi tion is st arted by th e Start Ti mer.
Shot Transit ion 85 Recording When “R ec Link” i s “Shot-A” or “ Shot- B, ” the camco rder auto mati cally perf orms the shot transition to the ca mera settings registered t o Shot A o r Shot B, re spectively. You need no t press the butto n.
Fader Fu nction 86 Recording Using the Fa der functi on, you can sta rt a recordi ng by fading i n a sc ene or e nd a record ing by fadi ng o ut of a scene . The fa der func tion can b e assigned to an assignab le button . For function assi gnment, see “Changing Functi ons of the Assignable Buttons” on pag e 75.
Fader Functi on 87 Recording For f ading i n a scen e Press the A SSIGN but ton to w hich you assigned the Fader func tion in STBY (re cording stand by) status. The f ade-in function i s tur ned on. For fadin g out Press the A SSIGN but ton to w hich you assigned the Fade r func tion d uring re cording.
Picture Pr ofiles 88 Recording You ca n custom ize the pictur e quali ty, depe nding on th e cond ition s or circu mstan ces o f reco rding, and stor e them as a pictur e prof ile, enablin g the picture qua lity to be resu med just by your selectin g the pict ure profile.
Pict ure P rof iles 89 Recording The PICTURE P ROFILE menu is disp layed. 3 Oper atin g the jo g dial or the jo ystick , sele ct “S EL” th en the desi red pict ure prof ile fr om th e list. The camco rder is ad justed to the pic ture quali ty spec ified b y the s elected Pro f ile.
