Recording 28 Adjusti ng the iris You can m anually adjust th e light volum e entering the le ns. As the iris is o p ened (smaller aperture values), th e light volume increases. Th e range of focu s narrows and only the sub ject appears in sharp foc us.

Recording Recording 31 Displa ying th e zebra pattern t o adjust the brightness If there is a part of the screen where brightne ss is over a ce rtain leve l, the part may appear exc essively whi te when play ed b ack. By displa ying the z ebra pa ttern on such a part , you can be remind ed to adju st the brightness before recording.
Recording 32 Adjusting the focus The focus i s adjusted au tomatically in the default setting. Adjusti ng the focus manuall y You can adjust t he focus m anually acco rding to the recording co nd itio n s. Use this functi on in the followin g cases. – To recor d a subjec t behind a windo w cover ed with raindr ops.
Recording Recording 33 To focus automatically te m porarily Reco rd the su bj ec t with PU S H AUTO pr essed. If you re lease the button, the setting retu rns to manu al focus ing. Use this fu n ction to shift the focus from one subject t o another. The sc e nes will trans ition smoo thly.
Recording 34 Customizing the picture quality or sound Custo mizing the pic ture qu ality – PICTURE PROFILE You can c ustomize the picture qua lity by adjusting th e color intensity, brightness, whit e bal ance, etc.

Recording Recording 41 Reviewing the most recently recorded scenes – Rec Review You can view a few sec onds of the sc ene record ed just be f ore you stop ped the tape . In the standby mode, press REC REVIEW. The las t few seco nds of th e most rec ently recor ded scen e are play ed bac k.
Playback 42 Play back Viewing movies Make sur e yo u ha v e a rec o rde d cass e tte inserted into your camcorder. Some of th e operation s are possible u sing the Remote Comman der.
Playback Playback 43 b Note • When pl aying back a tape recor ded in the HDV and DV formats, and the signal switches between HDV and DV, the picture and sound di sappear tempo rarily. • You ca nnot play back t he tape recorde d in the HD V format on vide o c ame ras of the DV form at or mini - DV p l a y ers.

Playback Playback 45 Camera settings data display In the date /time data displa y , the date and time is displa y ed in the sa me area. If you re cord t he pictur e without setting the clock, [-- -- --- -] and [--: --:--] will a ppear.
Playback 46 Playing the picture on a TV TV c onnection s di ffer d ependin g on the t ype of TV. Connect the supp lied AC Adaptor to the wall socket for the power supply (p . 14). Refer also to the instruction manuals supplied with the devi ces to be conne cted.

Playback 48 Viewing t he picture on a 16:9 TV or a 4:3 TV Connect your camcorde r and your TV or VCR using either cables de scribed below. To conn ect the TV using t he com ponent video cable This connection is recommended when your TV has COMPONENT VIDEO jacks.
