18 5 Set the cam corder onto the Handycam Station securely . Be sure to set th e camcorder to the end. The CH G (charge) lamp li ghts up and charging start s. Pull the lens cap string down until stopped b y the grip bel t (DCR- SR40).
22 T o turn off the power Slide the PO WER switch to OFF (CHG). Put th e lens cap ba ck aft er turn ing o f f t he power (DCR-SR40). • At the time of purchase , the power will be set to turn off automatically if you leave your camcorder without any operation for approximately five minutes, to s a ve battery power ([A.
23 Ge tting Start ed Open th e LCD scree n 90 degrees to th e camcorde r ( 1 ), then rotate it to the best ang le to re cord or pl ay ( 2 ). • Be careful not to press the buttons on the LCD frame accidentally , when you open or adjust the LCD screen.
24 Y ou can play back recor ded images (p .30, 33), or cha nge the sett ings (p.47) using th e touch pane l. T ouch the buttons displayed on th e screen. Support the r ear of th e LCD panel with yo ur finger . Then, touch the b utto ns displayed on the screen.
25 Ge tting Start ed Set th e date and tim e whe n usin g this camcorde r for the first time. If you do not set the da te and time, the [CLOCK SET] sc reen appear s e very time you turn on your camcor der or s lide th e PO WER swit ch.

42 Connec t your cam corder to the input jack of TV or VCR using A/V con necting cable 1 or A/V connecting cable with S VIDEO 2 . 43 Record ing/Playba ck • When you se t [TV TYPE] t o [4:3], the image quality may deter iorate. Also, when the reco rded image’ s aspect ratio switches between 16:9 (wide) and 4:3, the image may jitt er . • On some 4:3 TVs, t he still im ages recor ded in 4: 3 aspect ratio may not be displayed full screen.
44 Recor ded images are st ored on the inte rnal hard disk of the camcor der . Due to some limitation s on the i nternal hard disk, make sur e that y ou sav e the image data to the e xternal media. Y ou can sav e th e ima ges re corde d on t he c amcord er a s desc ribed belo w .
45 Record ing/Playba ck Y ou can provide free hard disk space by deleting image data on the camco rder . • Y ou can check the free hard disk space of the camcorder on [HDD INFO] (p.58). • Protected images cannot be deleted. T o delete the images, cancel the protection (p.

When you m ake a setti ng for Seamless playback, the en ding of eac h movie does not p ause. Once yo u make this settin g, you do not hav e to m ake the same sett ing next time.
