20 Getting started CHARGING THE BA TTERY Y ou can charge the battery with the USB cable and power adaptor . Make sure that you use the supplied USB cable or power adapter to charge the battery . If you use any other power adapter for the camcorder , it will not work properly or the battery may not be charged.

23 Getting started About the battery • Battery properties A lithium-ion battery is small-sized and has a high capacity . Low ambient temperature (below 50ºF (10ºC)) may shorten its usage time and affect its function. Befor e recor ding in low temperatures, put the battery into your pocket to warm it, then install it in the camcorder .

34 Getting ready to start r ecording A TT ACHING THE STRAP Adjust the length of strap so that the camcorder is stable when you press the [ Recor ding start/stop ] button with your thumb. If you adjust the strap too tightly and use excessive force to insert your hand, the strap hook of the camcorder may be damaged.

40 Basic recor ding ZOOMING IN/OUT Use the zoom function for close-up or wide-angle recor ding. This camcorder allows you to r ecord using 52x optical power zoom, 70x Intelli-zoom and 130x digital zoom. To zoom in (T) Slide the [ Zoom ] lever towards [ T ] (telephoto).
41 Basic recor ding USING THE BACK LIGHT BUTTON When a subject is lit from behind, this function compensates for lighting so that the subject is not too dark.
42 Basic playback CHANGING THE PLA YBACK MODE • Y ou can switch to the playback mode by pressing the [ MODE ] button. • The recor ded videos or photos appear in thumbnail view and the most recently cr eated file is highlighted. • The camcorder selects the thumbnail display options based on the standby mode you used the last time.
43 Basic playback PLA YING BACK VIDEOS Y ou can preview recorded videos in a thumbnail view , find your desired video quickly , and play back directly . • Insert a memory card. page 30 • Open the LCD screen and press the [ Power ( )] button to turn on the camcorder .
44 Basic playback Skip playback • During playback, press the [ Contr ol (Right) ] button to locate the starting point of the next file. Pressing the [ Contr ol (Right) ] button repeatedly skips files in the forwar d direction. • During playback, press the [ Contr ol (Left) ] button to locate the starting point of the current file.
45 Basic playback PLA YING BACK MY CLIP Y ou can extract and play back the scenes tagged as ‘My Clip’ from a video. 1 Select the video thumbnail view . 2 Use the [ Control (Up/Down/Left/ Right) ] button to select the video tagged with the My Clip symbol ( ) , and then press the [ PHOTO ] button.

59 Advanced recor ding Adjusting the focus manually This camcorder automatically focuses subjects fr om close-up to infinity . However , the correct focus may not be obtained depending on the recor ding conditions. If this occurs, use the manual focus mode.
60 Advanced recor ding Anti-Shake(HDIS) Use the Anti-Shake(HDIS) function to compensate for unstable images caused by shaking movements while holding the camcorder . 64 Advanced recor ding Time Lapse REC Using the Time Lapse feature, you can program your camcorder to create a time lapse video by r ecording a series of frames over a set period of time with a set time interval between each frame. The Time Lapse feature lets you cr eate time lapse videos of blooming flowers and similar subjects.
