Assembling 15 Inser t the SIM or USIM card When you subscribe to a c ellular ser vice, y ou will receive a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, with subscription details, such as y our personal identification number (PIN) and optional ser vices.
Assembling 16 Charge the ba tter y Before using the devic e for the first time , you must charge the battery . Charge the battery only with a charger .
Assembling 17 Connect the USB cable to the USB pow er adapter and 1 then plug the end of the USB cable into the multifunction jack. Connecting the USB cable improperly may cause serious damage to the device or USB pow er adapter . Any damage caused b y misuse is not cover ed by the warrant y .
Assembling 18 W he n th e ba tt ery i s fu ll y ch ar ge d , fi rs t un pl ug t he U SB 3 cable from the device , and then unplug the USB power adapter from the electrical socket.
Assembling 19 Inser t a memor y car d (optional) Y our device accepts microSD ™ or microSDHC ™ memory cards with maximum capacities of 32 GB (depending on the memor y card manufacturer and type). Samsung uses approv ed industr y standards for memory cards , but some brands may not be fully compatible with your device .
Assembling 20 Push the memory card into the memory card slot until it 3 locks in place. Close the cov er of the memor y card slot. 4 Remov e a memor y card › Ensure that the devic e is not currently accessing the memory ca rd. In the application list, select 1 Settings → S torage → Unmount SD card → OK .
21 Getting star ted Getting star ted T urn on or off your device T o tur n on your devic e, press and hold the P ow er key . If you are turning on your devic e for the first time, f ollow the on-screen instructions to set up your device .
22 Getting star ted F or optimal use of the touch screen, r emove the ● screen pr otection film before using your devic e. Y our touch screen has a lay er that detects small ● electrical charges emitted by the human body . F or best per formance , tap the touch screen with your finger tip .
23 Getting star ted Double -tap T ap an item twice quickly . Flick Brisk ly scroll up , down, left, or right to move thr ough lists or screens. Pinch Place two of y our fingers far apar t, and then pinch them together . Y our device turns off the touch screen when you do ● not use it for a specified period.
24 Getting star ted Lock or unlock the t ouch screen and the ke ys When you do not use the devic e for a specified period, y our device turns off the touch screen and locks the t ouch screen and the keys automatically t o prevent unin tended operations.

28 Getting star ted Remov e an item from the Home scr een › T ap and hold an item, and then drag it to the rubbish bin. › Add or r emov e a panel from the Home screen Y ou can add or remove Home scr een panels to organise widgets. On the Home screen, place two fingers on the scr een and 1 pinch them together to switch t o Edit mode.
29 Getting star ted Use widgets › Widgets ar e small applications that pro vide conv enient functions and information on your Home scr een. The widgets available ma y var y depending on your region or service provider . In the application list, select 1 W idgets to open the widget panel.
30 Getting star ted Organise applications › Y ou can change the order of applications in the application list or group them in to categories. In the application list, select 1 → Edit . T ap and hold an application icon. 2 Organise applications: 3 T o move the application, drag it to a new loca tion.

34 Getting star ted › Lock y our device Y ou can lock your device with a pattern, a PIN, or a passw ord. Once the screen lock is enabled , your device will r equire your passwor d each time you turn it on or unlock the touch screen. Communication 56 Set call barring › Call barring is a network featur e that restricts cer tain types of calling or prev ents others from making calls with your device. In the application list, select 1 Phone → K eypad → → Call settings → C all settings → A dditional settings → Call barring → a call type.
