Assembling 10 T o install the SIM or USIM card and battery , If the device is on, press and hold the P ower key and select 1 P ower off → OK t o turn it off . Remove the back co ver . 2 Be careful not to damage y our finger nails when you remov e the back cover .
Assembling 11 Inser t the batter y . 4 Replace the back cov er . 5 Charge the ba tter y Before using the devic e for the first time, you must char ge the battery . Y ou can charge the device with a tr avel adapt er or by connecting the device to a PC with a USB cable.
Assembling 12 When your batt er y is low , the device will emit a ● warning tone and display a lo w battery message. The battery icon will also be empty . I f the battery level becomes too low , the device will automatically power off . Recharge your battery to continue using your device.
Assembling 13 Plug the large end of the tra vel adapter into a pow er 2 outlet. Y ou can use the device while it is charg ing, but it ma y ● take longer to fully charge the batt er y . While the device is charg ing, the touch screen ma y ● not function due to an unstable power supply .
Assembling 14 Charge with a USB cable › Before char ging, ensure tha t your PC is turned on. Plug one end (micro-USB) of the USB cable into the 1 multifunction jack . Plug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on a 2 PC. Depending on the type of USB cable you are using , it may take some time bef ore charg ing begins.
Assembling 15 Open the cov er of the memor y card slot on the side of the 1 device. Inser t a memor y card with the gold-coloured contacts 2 facing upwar ds. Push the memory card in the memor y card slot until it 3 locks in place. Close the cov er of the memor y card slot.
Assembling 16 F ormat the memor y card › F ormatting your memor y card on a PC may cause incompatibilities with y our device. F ormat the memory card only on the device. In Idle mode, select Applications → Settings → S torage → Unmount SD card → OK → F ormat SD card → F ormat SD ca rd → Er ase everything .
Getting star ted 17 Getting star ted T urn your devic e on and off T o turn on your device , press and hold the P ower key . If you turn on your device f or the first time, follow the on-scr een instructions to set up your device . T o turn off your device , press and hold the P ower key and then select Po wer off → OK .
Getting star ted 18 Get to know your devic e Device la yout › 1. Do not touch or co ver the antenna ar ea with your hands or other objects while using the GPS func tions.
Getting star ted 19 Keys › Key F unction P ower/ Reset 1 / Lock T urn on the device (press and hold); Acc ess the quick menus (press and hold); Reset the device (press and hold f or more than 10 seconds); L ock the touch screen.

Getting star ted 22 Use the t ouch screen Y our device ’ s touch screen lets you easily select items or per form functions. Learn basic actions to use the touch screen. T o avoid scra tching the touch screen, do not use ● sharp tools. Do not allow the touch screen t o come into contact ● with other electrical devices.
Getting star ted 23 Contr ol your touch screen with the f ollowing ac tions: T ap: T ouch once with your finger to select or launch a menu, ● option, or application. T ap and hold: T ap an item and hold it f or more than ● 2 seconds to open a pop-up option list.
Getting star ted 24 Lock or unlock the t ouch screen and key s Y ou can lock the touch screen and key s to prevent an y unwan ted device opera tions. T o lock, press the Po wer key . T o unlock , turn on the screen by pressing the P ower key or the Home key , and then flick the window with your finger .
Getting star ted 25 Mov e items on the idle screen › T ap and hold an item to move . 1 Drag the item to the loca tion you want . 2 Remov e items from the idle screen › T ap and hold an item to remov e. 1 The trash bin appears at the bott om of the idle screen.
Getting star ted 26 › Add or r emove panels t o the idle screen Y ou can add or remov e panels of the idle screen to organise widgets accor ding to your pref erences and needs . In Idle mode, press [ 1 ] → Edit . Y ou can also place your two fingers on the scr een and pinch to switch to E dit mode.
Getting star ted 27 Select an application. 3 When you use applications pr ovided by Google, you ● must have a Google acc ount. If you do not have a Google account, sig n up for a Google acc ount. Y ou can add a shor tcut to an application b y tapping ● and holding the application icon fr om the application list.
Getting star ted 28 T o add a folder or panel to the menu scr een, In the application list, press [ 1 ] → Edit . T ap and hold an application. 2 Drag the application icon t o 3 Add F older or Add P age at the bottom of the screen. Repeat steps 2-3 to add mor e applications.
Getting star ted 29 Use the task manager › Y our device is a multitasking device. It can run more than one application at the same time . Howev er , multitasking may cause hang-ups, fr eezing, memor y problems , or additional power c onsumption. T o a void these pr oblems, end unnecessary programs using the task manager .
Getting star ted 30 Swit ch to Silent mode › T o mute or unmute your devic e, do one of the following: In Idle mode, open the application list and select ● Phone → Ke ypad and tap and hold # . Open the notifications panel from the t op of the screen and ● select Silent mode .
Getting star ted 31 Adjust the brigh tness of the display › In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → Displa y → Brigh tness . Drag the slider to adjust the lev el of brightness. 2 Select 3 OK . The brightness level of the displa y will affect how quickly the device consumes batter y pow er .
Getting star ted 32 Set an unlock PIN code In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → L o cation and security → Set up screen lock → PIN . Enter a new PIN (numeric) and select 2 Con tinue . Enter the PIN again and select 3 OK .
Getting star ted 33 › Activat e the F ind my mobile fea ture When someone inserts a new SIM or USIM card in your device, the F ind my mobile f eature will automatically send the contact number to specified recipients t o help you locate and reco ver your device .
Getting star ted 34 Change the keyboar d t ype › Y ou can change the keyboard type. T ap and hold the tex t input field and select Input method → a keyboard type (Samsung keypad or Swype).
Getting star ted 35 Y ou can also use the follo wing keys: 1 3 2 4 5 6 8 7 Number F unction 1 Change case. 2 Acc ess the keypad settings (tap and hold). 3 Switch between S ymbol/Number mode and ABC mode. 4 Change the input language. 5 Clear your input.
Getting star ted 36 Enter t ext using the Samsung keypad › Select 1 → P or trait k eypad types and selec t a text input method. Y ou can select one of key input methods (QWERT Y or traditional keypad) or handwriting input methods. Enter text by selecting alphanumeric keys or writing on 2 the screen.
Getting star ted 37 C opy and paste t ex t › While you ar e entering text, you can use the copy and paste featur e to use text in other applications. Place the cursor on the te xt you want to cop y . 1 Select 2 . Select 3 Selec t wor d or S elect all to selec t the text you want.
Getting star ted 38 Download applica tions from Pla y Shop Based on the Android platf orm, your device ’ s func tionality can be extended by installing additional applications. Play Shop pr ovides you an easy and quick way to shop f or games and mobile applications.
Getting star ted 39 Download files fr om the web When you do wnload files or web applications from the web , your device sa ves them in a memor y card. F iles you download from the w eb can include viruses that will damage your devic e. T o lessen your risk , only download files from sour ces you trust.
Getting star ted 40 Set up a ser ver acc ount › In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → A ccounts and sync . Select 2 Add ac count → an account type.
Communication 41 C ommunication Calling Learn to use calling functions, such as making and answering calls, using options av ailable dur ing a call or customising and using call-relat ed featur es. Make or answ er a call › Y ou can use the buttons or the touch scr een when you make, accept, end or r ejec t calls.
Communication 42 Answ er a c all 1 When a call comes in, drag outside of the large circle . When the device is ringing , press the V olume key to mute the ringtone . T o end the call, select 2 End call . Reject a c all When a call comes in, drag outside of the large circle .

Communication 44 Use options during a video call › Y ou can use the follo wing options while a video call is in progr ess: T o switch between the front and r ear camera lens, select ● Swit ch camera . T o turn off the microphone so that the other part y cannot ● hear you, select Mute .
Communication 45 Use additional f eatures › Y ou can use various other call-relat ed featur es, such as auto rejection, F ixed Dialling Number (FDN) mode, or call diverting or barring. Set auto rejection Use auto r ejec tion to reject calls from certain numbers automatically .
Communication 46 Use F ixed Dialling Number (FDN) mode In FDN mode, your device will r estric t outgoing calls, ex cept for the numbers stor ed in the FDN list. T o ac tivate FDN mode , In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → C all → A dditional settings → F ixed Dialling Numbers → Enable FDN .

Communication 49 Add r ecipients of your message. 3 Enter phone numbers or email addr esses manually , ● separating them with a semicolon or a c omma. Select phone numbers or email addresses from the lists ● by selecting . When you ent er an email address, the device will conv er t the message as a multimedia message.
Communication 50 Listen to v oice mail messages › If you have set missed calls t o be diver ted to the voic e mail ser ver , callers may leave v oice messages when you do not answer incoming calls .

Communication 52 Organise email by labels › Y ou can organise your email b y labelling your messages. Y ou can sor t messages by label filter . Add a label to a message F rom the Inbox screen, tap and hold a message . 1 Select 2 Change labels . Select a label to add and selec t 3 OK .

Entertainment 57 Ent er tainment Camer a Learn how t o capture and view photos and videos. Y ou can take photos at r esolutions up to 2560 x 1920 pix els (5 megapixels) and videos at r esolutions up to 1280 x 720 pixels . The camera automa tically tur ns off when you do not ● use it for a specified period.

Entertainment 64 Record a video › 1 In Idle mode, open the application list and select Camera to turn on the camera. Drag the slider to the camcor der to switch to the 2 camcorder . Entertainment 65 Select 4 to start recording . Select 5 to stop r ecording. The video is sav ed automatically . The camcor der may not be able to properly recor d videos to a memory card with a slow transfer speed . After recor ding videos, select the image viewer icon to view the recor ded videos.
