6 www.pridemobili ty.com Quantum 1121 Series II. SAFETY Explosive conditions exist! Do not expose to heat source such as open flame o r sparks. Do not transport batteries with flammable or combustible items. Use only AGM or Gel-Cell batteries to reduce the risk of leakage or explosive conditions.

Keep in mind that the maximum weight capacity includes the combine d wei ght of the user and any accessories mounted to the power chair.

10 www.pridemobility. com Quantum 1121 Series Public Streets and Roadways WARNING! You should not operate your power chair on public st reets and roadways. Be aware that it may be difficult for traf fic to see you when you a re seat ed on your power chair.

Quantum 1121 Series w ww.pridemobility.com 19 To install the seat: 1. Set the seat towers to th e desired height. To change the seat height, see V. “Comfort Adjustments.” 2. Tilt the seat back, and s lide the rear extrusion onto the rear trapeze bar.

COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS After becoming familiar with your pow er chair’s operati on, you may find the need to make some adjustments to increase your comfort, such as seat he ight and angle, armrest a ngle, foot platform height and angle, and the con- troller’s position.

Plug the controller conn ector(s) into the electronics tray. NOTE: Make sure the seat latch safety is flipped down before using the power chair seat.

Quantum 1121 Series w ww.pridemobility.com 23 2. Unplug the controller conn ector from the power base. 3. Remove any wire ties securing the controller harness to the armrest. 4. Flip up the armrest so it is perpendicular to the floor. 5. Loosen the setscrew on the controller bracket.
24 www.pridemobility. com Quantum 1121 Series Foot Platform Angle Adjustment You can adjust the angle of the foot platform with a hex key. See figure 19. To adjust the foot platform angle: 1. Locate the setscrew on the underside of the foot platform. 2.

Toggle Switch Power Elevating Seat (Optional) If your power chair is equipp ed with a power elevating seat, you can change the seat height either through the controller or through the t oggle switch mounted to one of the armrests.
26 www.pridemobility. com Quantum 1121 Series VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING BATTERIES AND CHARGING The power chair uses two long- lasting, 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries. These batteries are sealed and maintenance free. Since they are sealed, there is no need to check the electrolyte (fluid) le vel.
Quantum 1121 Series w ww.pridemobility.com 27 Battery Break-in To break in new batteries for maximum efficiency: 1. Fully recharge any new battery prior to its initial us e. This brings the battery up to about 90% of its peak performance level. 2. Operate your power chair throughout th e house and yard.
28 www.pridemobility. com Quantum 1121 Series VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING Daily Use If you use your power chair on a daily basis, charge the batteri es as soon as you are finished using your power chair. Your power chair will be re ady each morning to give you a full day’s service.

Like any motorized vehicle, it requires routine maintenance checks. You can perform some of thes e checks, but othe rs require assistanc e from a Quantum Rehab Provider.
Quantum 1121 Series w ww.pridemobility.com 31 All wheel bearings are prelubr icated and sealed. They requi re no subsequent lubrication. The body shroud has been sprayed with a clear sealant coating. You can apply a light coat of car wax to help it retain its high-gloss appearance.
32 www.pridemobility. com Quantum 1121 Series Yearly Checks Take your power chair to a Quantum Rehab Provider for yearly maintenanc e, especially if you use your power chair on a daily basis. This helps en sure that your power chair is functi oning properly and helps prevent future complications.

Set the power chair up on blocks. 3. If you are changing a pneumatic tire, comple tely deflate it before removing the wheel.
