Do not connect an extension cord to the AC /DC con verter or the battery charger. Removal of grounding prong can create el ectrical haza rd.

Keep in mind that the maximum weight capacity includes the combine d wei ght of the user and any accessories mounted to the power chair.

Never use your power chair to negotiate steps or escalators. Doors Determine if the door opens toward or away from you.

This in cludes awareness of safety issues when taking prescribed or ov er-the-counter drugs or when the user has specific physical limitations.
Quantum 6000Z Series www.pridemobility.com 17 III. YOUR POWER CHAIR THE QUANTUM 6000Z SERIES The Quantum 6000Z Series has two ma in assemblies: the seat assembly and the power base assembly. See figure 5. Typically, the seat assembly includes the armrests , seatback, and seat base .
18 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 6000Z Series III. YOUR POWER CHAIR Electrical Components The electrical components consis t of the controller assembl y, the batteries, and the motors. The batteries, motors, and controller power module (if equipped) are located on the power base assembly.

Battery Connector: This is where the controll er connects to the batteries. Controller Power Module: This enables the controller to communi cate with the batter ies and the motors.

22 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 6000Z Series LATCHED IV. ASSEMBLY Seat Installation It may be necessary to install the seat either prior to initial operation or after tr ansporting your power chair. Contour seats are attached to the power base with the Universal Mounting Sys tem (UMS).

While the seat itself may be any one of the styles offered for th is model, the way the seat base attaches to the pow er base is different.
24 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 6000Z Series COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS After becoming familiar with your pow er chair’s operation, you may find the n eed to make some adjustments to increase your comfort, such as seat height and angle, armrest width, ar mrest angle and height, foot platform height, depth, and angle, and controller position.

Quantum 6000Z Series www.pridemobility.com 29 BATTERIES AND CHAR GING Your power chair uses two l ong-lasting, 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries. These batteries are sealed and maintenance free. Since they are sealed, th ere is no need to check the electrolyte (flu id) level.

Position the front of your power chair next to a standard electrical outlet. 2. Be certain the contr oller power is turned off and the freewheel levers are in the engaged position.
Quantum 6000Z Series www.pridemobility.com 31 VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING How often must I charge the batteries? Many factors come into play when d eciding how often to charge the batteri es. You may use your power chair all day on a daily basis or you may not use it for weeks at a time.
32 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 6000Z Series VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING How can I ensure maximum battery life? A fully charged deep-cycle battery will provide reliabl e performance and extended ba ttery life. Keep your power chair’s batteries fully charged whenever possible.
Quantum 6000Z Series www.pridemobility.com 33 CARE AND MAINTENANCE Your Quantum 6000Z Series is a sophisti cated power chair. Like any motorized vehicle, it requires routine main- tenance checks. You can perform some of these checks, but others require assistance from your Quantum Rehab Provider.
34 www.pridemobility.com Quantum 6000Z Series VII. CARE AND MAINTENANCE All wheel bearings are prelubricated and seal ed. They require no s ubsequent lubrication. The body shroud has been sprayed with a clear sealant co ating. You can apply a light coat of car wax to help it retain its high-gloss appearance.

Turn off the power to the controller. 2. Set the power chair up on blocks. 3. If you are changing a pneumatic tire, comple tely deflate it before removing the wheel.
