Please observe the following safety tips when getting onto and of f of your scooter: n Ensure that your scooter is not in freewheel mode.

This includes aware- ness of safety issues when taking prescribed or over- the-counter drugs or when the user has specific physical limitations.
15 V ictory XL-4 /RevC/June03 www .pridemobility .com III. EMI/RFI EMI/RFI W ARNINGS Laboratory tests performed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have shown that radio waves can cause unintended motion of electric mobility vehicles. Radio waves are a form of electromagnetic ener g y (EM).
16 www .pridemobility .com Victory XL-4/RevC/June03 III. EMI/RFI Are all electric mobility vehicles susceptible to EMI/RFI? Each make and model of electric mobility vehicle differs in its ability to resist EMI/RFI. Every mobility vehicle has a particular level of resistance to EMI/RFI.

20 www .pridemobility .com Victory XL-4/RevC/June03 V . YOUR VICTOR Y XL-4 Throttle Control Lever This lever allows you to control the forward and reverse speeds up to the maximum you preset with the speed adjustment dial. For instructions on how to operate the throttle control lever , see VII.

This lever pro- vides you with additional stopping power . Se e figure 7. n Release the throttle control lever and gently squeeze the handbrake lever to come to a stop.

YOUR VICTOR Y XL-4 Main Circuit Breaker (Reset Button) When the voltage in the batteries becomes low or your scooter is heavily strained because of excessive loads, the main circuit breaker may trip to protect the motor and electronics from damage.
25 V ictory XL-4 /RevC/June03 www .pridemobility .com VI. BA TTERIES AND CHARGING Y our scooter requires two long-lasting, 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries that are sealed and maintenance free. They are recharged by an onboard char ging system. n Char ge your scooter s batteries prior to using it for the first time.

Remove the seat. 3 . Gently lift the rear shroud of f of your scooter high enough to be able to disconnect the rear lighting harnesses.

Batteries and Char ging. n Is the manual freewheel lever in the drive (down) position? Never leave the manual freewheel lever pulled up unless you are manually pushing your scooter.

Align the curved bracket of the front section with the mounting peg of the rear section and lower the front section onto the peg of the rear section.
