5 Right Hand Left Hand S Position your left hand on the front handlebar so it is in a straight line with your right hand on the rear handle when making bucking cuts. Stand slightly to the left side of the saw to keep your body from being in a direct line with the cutting chain.

8 GUIDE BAR AND CHAIN OIL The bar and chain requi re lubri cati on. The chain oil er provi des lubricat ion t o the chain and gui de bar . Be sur e to fi ll t he bar oil tank before each cutting sessi on. Lack of oil will quickl y ruin the bar and chain.
9 FELLING LARGE TREES (6 inches i n diameter or l arger) The notch method is used to fell large trees. A notch i s cut on the side of the t ree in the des ired directio n of fall. After a felling cut is made on the opposit e side of t ree, the tree w ill tend to fall in the direc tion of the notch.
10 Overcutting Under cutting Undercutt ing i nvolves cut ti ng on t he un - derside of the l og with top of saw agai nst the log. When under cutti ng use li ght up - ward pressure. Hold saw fi rmly and main - tain cont rol . The saw will t end to push back toward you.
11 S Remove larger branches with the cut- ting techniques described BUCKIN G WITHOU T A SUPPORT . S Always use an overcut to cut small and freely hanging limbs. Undercut - ting could cause lim bs to fall and pinch the saw . PRUNING W ARNING: Limit pruning to limbs shoulder height or below.
12 CHECK CHAIN TENSION W ARNING: Wear protective gloves when handling chain. The chain is sharp and can cut you even when it is not moving. Chain tensi on is very important . Chai n stret ches during use. This i s especial ly true during the fir st few times you use your saw .
13 S Check bar and chain oil before use and every 15 minutes while operating the saw . See GUID E BAR AND CHAIN OIL under the OPERATIO N section. S Lubricat e bar sprocket hole aft er each use. INSPECT AND CLEAN UNIT AND LABELS S After each use, inspect complete unit for loose or damaged parts.

15 TROUBLE CAUSE REMEDY Chain does not move when trigger switch is engaged . 1. Chain tension incorrect. 2. Guide bar rails pinched. 3. T rigger switch failure. 4. Circuit breaker tripped/ fuse failure. 1. See “Check Chain T ension” in Maintenance section.
