NOTE: T he chain is tensioned correctly when the w eight of the c hain doe s not c ause it to sa g below the guide bar (with the chain s aw sit ting in an upright position) , but the chain still moves f reely ar ound the guide bar.
9 WAR N I NG : If the s aw is operated with a loos e chain, the c hain could jump off the guide bar and r esult in s erious injur y to the operator and/or damage the chain mak - ing it unus able. BEFORE ST ARTING ENGINE WAR N I NG : Muffler is v ery hot during and after us e.
10 IMPORT ANT POINTS T O R EMEMBER When pulling the star ter rope, do not us e the full ex tent of the rope as this can caus e the rope to break . D o not let s tarter r ope snap back .
11 Braki ng functi on control CAUTION: The chain brak e must be chec ked s everal times daily. The engine must be r unning when per forming this proc e- dure. This is the only instanc e when the s aw should be plac ed on the ground with the en- gine running.

Remov e these bur rs with a flat file. S When rail top is unev en, use a flat file t o re- stor e square edges and sides .
16 REPLACE SP ARK PLUG The spar k plug s hould be replac ed each year to ens ure the engine starts eas ier and runs better. Ignition timing is fix ed and non- adjustable. NOTE: This s park ignition sy stem compli es with t he Canadian s tandard IC ES - - 002.

18 Follow the mix instruc tions found on stabiliz - er c ontainers. Run engine at leas t 5 minutes after adding s tabilizer . Poulan/WEE D EA TER 40:1, 2- cycl e engine oil ( air c ooled) is blended w ith fuel s tabilizer. If y ou do n ot use t his oil, you c an add a fuel stabiliz er to y our fuel tank .
