8 Checking th e tension: Us e a s crewdr iver to mov e c hain around guide bar . I f the chain does not rotate, it is too tight. If the c hain is too loose, it will sag below the bar . Bar Knob Guide Bar Adjus ting Wheel Screwdriver Ad jus ting the te ns ion: Chain tens ion is v ery important.

11 IGNITI ON SWITCH ON STO P Cho ke Lever 1. Move O N/STOP s witc h to the ON posi- tion. 2. Slowly pres s primer bulb 6 t imes. 3. Pull c hoke/fas t idle lever out to the full extent ( to the FULL CHO KE posit ion). 4. Pull the s tarter r ope sharply 5 times with your right hand.

16 Replac e guide bar w hen the groo ve is w orn, the guide bar is bent or c rack ed, or w hen ex - ces s hea ting or burr ing of the rails oc curs . If r e- place ment is nece ssar y , us e only the guide bar spec ified for your s aw in the rep air parts l ist or on the decal loc ated on the c hain saw.
17 1. Loosen 3 s cr ews on c ylinder c over. 2. Remov e the cy linder c over . 3. Pull off the s park plug boot . 4. Remov e spark plug fr om cylinder and disc ard. 5. Replac e with C hampion RCJ - - 7Y s park plug and tighten sec urely w ith a 3 / 4 inch (19 mm) s ock et w rench.
18 HE LPFU L TIP During s torage of your gas / oil mixtur e, the oil w ill sepa- rate from t he gas. We recommend that y ou shak e the gas c an weekly to insur e proper blending of the gas and oil. ENGINE S Remov e spark plug and pour 1 teas poon of 4 0:1 , 2-cycl e engine oil ( air cooled) through the s park plug opening.
