These conv enience ports use lines 3 and 4; a call picked up on line 3 or 4 at another extension ma y interrupt fax, modem, or message transmission.

The LINE light for the line on hold flashes slowl y in green, and a double-beep sounds ev ery 30 seconds to remind you the call is on hold. (T o turn off the reminder beep , see T urn hold reminder on or off on page 31.
T ele phone oper ation T ele phone oper ation Mute Mute allows y ou to hear the other party , but the other party can’t hear y ou. T o activate this feature, press and r elease M . The MUTE light goes on. T o return to the con versation, pr ess and r elease M again.
T ele phone oper ation T ele phone oper ation Confer ence calls This featur e lets you set up a thr ee-party call by using two lines at the same time. Y ou can also join an inter com call with a call on an outside line. The outside line call must be established first because an intercom call cannot be placed on hold.
T ele phone oper ation T ele phone oper ation T ransfer a call Y ou can transfer a call you ans wer to an y other system phone. Once y ou transfer a call, it can be pick ed up at any other system phone, not just at the extension you called. For information about using the displa y screen menus, see Men u operation beginning on page 22.
