8 En Connections Connecting the D VD receiver Connect the supplied FM antenna to the FM ANTENNA socket on the unit. If reception is poor , connect the outdoor antenna. Note • Before attaching a 75 ohm coaxial cable, disconnect the supplied FM antenna.

12 En a 9 ON/ST ANDBY button Use this button to turn the unit on and standby . The ST ANDBY indicator lights in the standby mode. It turns of f when the unit is turned on. b iP od / USB button Use this but ton to select an “ iP od ” or “ USB Source ”.

14 En Discs T ype of discs that can be pla yed on this unit This unit can playba ck discs bearing an y of the follo wing logos: This unit does not support disc types not listed. ■ Region Number of D VD Video discs D VD players and discs are de signed with re gion numbers that dictate the regions in which a disc can be played.
15 En • The disc must be finalized in order to play . • This unit is NO T compatible wi th multi-sess ion discs. • The CD-ROM must be ISO 9660 compatible. • It may take time to displa y a progressi v e JPEG picture. • Depending on the file size and compression rate, some JPEG pictures cannot be displayed correctly .
16 En iP od T o play your iPod through this unit, you must fi rst attach the Uni versal Dock Adapter for your model of iPod. Compatible iP od models Made for: • iPod touch (1st and 2nd generation) .
17 En USB flash drive compatibility • Only USB flash driv e can be used. • Some MP3 players etc. that can connect via the USB port cannot be played back with this unit. • Hard disk driv es, CD/D VD dri ves, and others connected via USB cannot be used.
18 En Basic Operation Basic Operation 1 Press 9 ON/ST ANDBY to turn the unit on. • T he unit turns on with the source that was last selected. 2 Press DV D , iPod / USB , FM , or LINE to select a source. The selected source is sho wn on the front pan el’ s display .
19 En Recor ding a Sour ce Y ou can record a source onto a CD recorder or a cassette tape recorder connected to the CO AXIAL DIGIT AL A U DIO OUT jack or the LINE OUT jacks. Dimmer Muting Super Bass boost Y ou can reinforce the bass s ound to maintain rich, full bass at lo w v olume.
20 En An on-screen menu is shown when a D VD, USB or V ideo CD with Playback Control (PBC) cont ent is loaded. The way in which the menu w orks may dif fer according to disc.
21 En P ausing pla yback (Fre ezing the picture) Press 1 / 3 to pause audio playback. Any D VD or V ideo CD image is frozen. Press 1 / 3 again to re start playback . Cautio n • If this unit is left in “pause” mode for an ex tended period of time with the screen sa ver set to on, the screen sav er will automatica lly start on the t elevision.
22 En Repeated presses of SUBTITLE c ycle through a v ailable languages on a disc. • Subtitles do not always appe ar immediately after the language has been selected. It may take a fe w seconds until the subtitles appear . • Some captions on some di scs cannot be remov ed or changed using this button.
23 En Each time DISPLA Y is pressed during playback, follo wing information appears on th e screen. ■ DV D ` Titl e Elapsed time ` Title Remain time ` Chapter Elapsed time ` Chapter Remaining time `.
24 En Time Searc h Y ou can start playback from the specified hour/minute/ second. Up to 20 chapters/tracks can be pro grammed in the desired order . 1 During playback, press SEARCH twice. “ GO TO -: - -:- ” appears on the screen. 2 Enter your desired hour , minute and second using the number buttons.
25 En Settings Settings This chapter describes ho w to use the SETUP menu. Most settings and ad justments are required to be set when you fi rst use the system. TV DISPLA Y The shape of the tele vision or monitor may not match the shape of the movie frame.
26 En OSD (ON SCREEN DISPLA Y) LANGUA GE Select the desired language for on screen menus of the unit from the follo wing: (European and North American) ` ENGLISH ` FRANÇAIS ` DEUTSCH ` IT ALIANO ` ES.
27 En TV MOD E This setting allo ws the selecti on of interlaced (INTERLA CE) or progressi ve-scan (PR OGRESSIVE) video from the compone nt video outputs. ` PROGRESSIVE : For progressi ve scan TV : turn on the progressi ve scan mode. ` INTERLA CE : For ordinary TV : turn on the interlace mode.
28 En TV TYPE ` PA L : Select this when the unit is connected to a P AL TV . ` AU T O : Select this when the unit is connected to a Multi TV . ` NTSC : Select this when the unit is connected to an NTSC TV . A UDIO, SUBTITLE, DISC MENU Y ou can se lect a preferred lan guage for audio, subtitle and disc menu.
29 En Listening to the FM Ra dio Listening to the FM Radio Selecting stations which cannot be tuned automatically (Manual selection) When q TUNING w is pressed mome ntarily , the frequency changes b y a fi xed step. Press q TUNING w repeatedly until the station you want to listen to is found.
30 En The power can be switched of f after a specif ied amount of time. The unit can be programmed to turn on at a specified time. • Adjust the clock befo re setting the timer . Do not for get to turn the unit to standby , or the timer will not work.
