4 Basic Information B AS IC I NFOR M A T IO N S ELF -D IA GN O S TI C T EST _______________ To print the self-diagnostic test for the wireless network card: 1. Make sure Ready to Print appears on the display . 2. Press the TEST button ( 1 ) on the wireless network card for at least 3 seconds.

7 Configuration Overview SS I D ( S ER V IC E S ET I DEN TIFIER ) _________ In a wireless network, terminals ca n be assigned an SSID identifier which restricts their access to printers on the network to o nly those set up for that SSID.
8 Configuration Overview S ECURI T Y F EA T URES __________________ Open (no security) This can be used, but is not recommended. WEP Wired Equivalent Privacy, assuring wireles s network security equivalent to a wired network. Set the same WEP key (64 or 128 bits) for all printers, computers and access points on the wireless network.
9 Configuration Overview • EAP-TLS requires authenticati on of the Server Certificate issued by a Certificate Auth ority and sent from a RADIUS server . • Certificate Authentication requ ires that the printer have a certificate issued by the Certif icate Authority that issued the Server Certificate.
10 Summary of Configuration Modes S UM M A R Y OF C ON F I G U R A TI ON M ODE S A D H OC M ODE _____________________ In this mode, wireless c omputers communicate with the printer peer-to-peer, gaining access through an SSID you set.
11 Summary of Configuration Modes You can set up an SSID of your choice for accessing the printer over a wireless network, but no other security can be configured through the control panel.

Check the network configuration of the wireless card. • Make sure that IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway are all set corre ctly . • Ad-Hoc mode: IP Address cannot be obt ained by DHCP . Check the network protocol: • The wireless card supports only T C P/IP protocol.
