GENERAL INFORMA TION 4 HO T AIR VS INFRARED WHA T MAKES TEMPEST ® WORK Although the technology behind the Tempest ® dryer was significant enough to be awarded the GATF Intertech Award, it is by no means new. In fact, thermistors have been in use for many years.
GENERAL INFORMA TION 5 HO W DR YING IS A CCOMPLISHED WITH TEMPEST ® KEY F A CT ORS T O REMEMBER ABOUT DR YERS FOR SMALL OFFSET PRESSES. IR dryers use very high temperatures and a fixed amount of electricity. One of the drawbacks of using a very hot heat source is that heat wants to travel from a very high temperature to a very low temperature.

7 1 2 3 INST ALLA TION Cut the sprayer hose about halfway between the hopper and the spra y bar . A new hose will be attached to the spra y mechanism. Remove the spray bar by removing the two bolts holding the bracket (subject arrow). Also remove the clip holding the spray hose (subject arrow , picture on following page).

9 INST ALLA TION Install the mounting bracket and new chain guide using M5 X 16MM cap head bolts and lock w ashers (subject arrow) as shown at the OPS & NOPS. Lea v e the bolts loose so the position of the dr yer can be mov ed up and down. The bolts thread into the same holes that held the original chain guides.

11 INST ALLA TION 6 Secure the dryer to the brac k ets (f our places) using the shor t button head bolts, w asher , and flanged nut (subject arrows). Leav e the bolt loose so the dryer can be moved front to back.

13 INST ALLA TION 9 8 P osition the dr y er so it clears the gr ipper opening mechanism on all three delivery gripper bars. The ar m must clear both the top and bottom of the dr yer . The photo shows the ar m clear ing the top of the dr yer (subject arro w).

15 INST ALLA TION 10 Connect the two hoses together using the "Y" connector (left hand subject arrow). Connect the T empest ® Spra y line to the press spra y hopper line using the reducer (right hand subject arrow). Attach the exhaust fan/manifold assembly to the center of the deliv er y guard as shown.

17 INST ALLA TION 13 14 15 Attach the micros witch cable assemb ly to the micros witch's in- stalled in step 12. See diag ram f or proper connection.

19 16 17 18 INST ALLA TION Remov e one of the two screws that attach the guard prop to the deliv ery guard on the NOPS. Install the supplied longer M4 screw in its place and using the original nut secure the provided cab le clamp (subject arrow) to the underside of the guard.

21 19 20 INST ALLA TION Use the provided zip ties to secure all loose cab les. See the back of the manual f or a complete electr ical system diagram. Replace all cov ers and guards. Attach the supplied multiple po wer cord caution label to the press side NOPS cov er .
