Using the Device The LRB 6000CI operational procedures are desi gn to allow the user to use most applicab le options in the fastest time possibl e. To activate it, press and hol d Action button (6, Fig.
Factors affecting measuring distance Though maxim um m easurement di stance depends on target reflectivit y, weather conditions and ot her conditions, for most targets the unit will provide accurate ranging for up to 4,000 mete rs. Under good conditions a large size target can be m easured up to 6,500 met ers.
Target selection logic On its way towards the target the laser beam may be reflected from various object s, thus decreasing ranging accuracy. The smaller, the farther, and the less reflective is the target – the high er is the possibility of o btaining an incorrect measurement.
Scanning regime the unit repeatedly m easures and displays result s every second while A butt on is pressed. To activate Scanning regim e press and hold Action butt on in Ready mode. The unit will work in Scanning regime while Action butt on is pressed.
Std – allows the user to select single action measurements: o Distance only ( d) o Compass Only ( C) o Elevation Only ( E) o Speed Only (S) o Height Only (H) o Speed + Distance ( Sd) o Distan.
o AUtO – Last Target Measurement* o PLGr – Comm unication to PLGR GPS* o PC – Comm unication to PC * o Reticule – Change reticule from + (cross) to (rectangle) o CAL – Compass calibra.
Active mode of measurement ( Std ) Correction parameter Condition S, Sd, d Distance Install unit at 1 meter 1 from flat target 2 C, E Azimuth and elevation Put unit in a level p lane and aim it to .
Compass calibration If the System was exposed t o a strong magnetic field or was not in use for a long time, the compass accuracy m ay dimini sh. To return the compass into workin g condition: .
Gating mode In this mode gati ng function is activat ed: here user can set the minimal distance to the ta rget, any object closer than the gating distance will be ignored.
Data Recall mode In Data Recall mode results of the last 10 m easurement s can be displayed. Measurement result s are saved in on-board mem ory in sets depending on the param eters set for m easuri.
Computer interconnectivity The unit supports RS-232 interface. Physical connection is performed through connect or with threaded coupling mechanism , designed for the heavy-duty outdoor applications. Note: Do not apply excessive force when disconnecti ng cable.
GPS interconnectivity LRB 6000CI can transm it the acquired data to a GPS receiver using DB15 conn ector and PLGR/DAGR protocol. An optional cabl e is required. To work with GPS, perfo rm the following steps: Switch the rangefinder to PLGr m ode; Choose dFLt measuring mode; Connect the rangefinder and GPS unit wi th the cable.
6. BEST MEASURING TECHNIQUE Laser range finder measures distance by catching laser beam reflected from the targ et. Everything that i mproves reflection increases the measurement reliability and max imum r an g e. 1. Use tripod when ranging rem ote targets.
reflections from all objects closer than the gating distance will be ignored. This is especially effective when ranging in unfavourable atm ospheric conditions, that is, in the rain, fog, haze or in the bright sun.
7. STORAGE AND MAINTENANCE The unit is a sophisticat ed precision optical instrum ent equipped with laser and electroni cs. Therefore, it should be handled with due care. Keep away from direct sunlight. Avoid impact s, jolts, dust, m oisture, and sharp changes of temperature.
8. TROUBLESHOOTING Ranging does not work. The display is t ransparent. Check the charge of the batte ry. Replace it if it is weak. Ranging does not work . The display indicates results of the last measurement. Wait for 8 seconds until the di splay becomes transparent, and press the Action button again.
