1 DIGIT AL AUDIO IN/OUT ( COA XIAL 1-2, OPTICAL 1-2): Connect to the corresponding optical or coaxial S/PDIF-format digital output of sources such as CD or BD/DVD players, HD T V or satellite tuners and other components. Coaxial and Optical digital input association is congurable via the Source Setup item of the Setup Menu OSD.
8 7.1 CH INPUT : Connect to the corresponding analog audio output ports of multichannel source components such as a DVD -Audio or multichannel-SACD player or external multichannel decoder (disc copy protected formats only allow analog sig nal transfer).

FIX: When FIX is the selec ted Z ONE 2 audio output por t, the ZONE 2 volume level can only be varied by using the VOLUME control of the external amplier or receiver it is connected to.

10 VOL [ ] : Pr ess [ ] button to increase or decrease the loudness level. Release the button when the desired level is reached . The VFD on the front panel will indicate the level set.
TUNER CONTR OL (for use with NAD Receiver , AM/FM/DAB T uner): Set the DEVICE SELEC TOR to “ TUN” in order to gain access to these buttons. Refer to the corr esponding labels pr inted in the remote control faceplat e and their respective assigned buttons to make use of these functions.

NE O:6 T wo -channel recordings, whether st ereo or surround- encoded, ar e reproduced with Neo:6 surround with output t o front left/r ight, center and discrete left/right surround channels plus subwoof er (assuming these are present in the current “Speak er Conguration ”).
TON E CON TRO LS “ T one D efeat” gives one the choice of varying or completely bypassing the tone control section of the T 747. If “O ” is selected, the T one Control circuits are active. Select “On ” to bypass the T one Controls eectively defeating the eect of the tone control cir cuits.
SE TU P M EN U The Setup Menu allows one to customize the operation of the T 747 to the ancillary equipment used in one’ s specic A V system. Unless your system exactly matches the factor y defaults, you will need t o use the S etup Menu to congure the settings of your T 747.
SA MP LE P RO CED UR E FO R S ET TI NG UP A/V P RE SE TS 1 Setup rst your preferr ed settings for the following options (access them through their respective menu page).
3 At “ A/V Presets” page, set “Preset: 1” to the following conditions: Use [ ] to selec t “Y es” or “No ” and press [ENTER] to conrm selection and move on to the next setting While at “Save Current Setup to P reset ” menu line, use [ ] to save the above settings to P reset 1.
5 With the above settings , scroll to “ A/V Presets ” from the SETUP MENU page. Use [ ] to access “ A/V Presets” menu. 6 At “ A/V Presets” page, set “Preset: 2” to the following condit.
Source The T 747 is equipped with ten congurable Sources (Source 1 -10). The settings for each Source ar e dependent on the congurations set for th in the parameters for that particular Source window . While at “Source” line item, use [ ] k eys to toggle through the Sources .
SO UR CE S ET UP (T A BL E VIE W) The Source Setup ( T able V iew) reects the settings made in the S ource Setup (Normal V ie w) menu. All the Source settings ar e summarized and displayed in tabulated f or m in the Source Setup ( T able View).
AUTO C AL IB RA T IO N It has been shown that many, if not most, surround sound syst ems are not accurately setup and calibrated. T o be done properly, calibration requir es special knowledge and instrumentation that the average person probably doesn ’t possess.
SP EA KE R CON FI GU RA T ION Every surround-sound system requires “bass-management” to direct low- frequency content from any or all channels to the speakers best able to reproduce it. F or this function to operate correctly, it is important that you correctly identify your speakers’ capabilities.
SE T TIN G S PE AKE R L EV ELS A T T ES T MO DE While at “Speaker Levels” menu, press the A VR 3 remote’ s “ T est ” key activating the T 747’ s Speaker Levels balancing test signal . Y ou will hear a T est tone. T o test each channel, use A VR 3’ s [ ] keys to move up or down the speaker channels.
AM PL IF IE R S ETU P If the surround back speakers are not used in the main zone, their surround back amplier channels could be assigned for Main Back or Zone 2. The Surround Back amplier is congurable through the f ollowing settings • Main Back: Assign as surround back speakers.

DO LBY S ET UP Under this menu, the Dolby Digital’ s D ynamic Range Control can be adjusted as well as the settings for Dolby Dig ital Pro Log ic II x Music. Dyn Range Ctrl (Dynamic R ange C ontrol): Y ou can selec t the eective dynamic range (subjective range from soft to loud) for playback of Dolby Digital soundtracks.

Frame Rat e: Frame rate ref ers to the number of frames or images that are projected or displayed per second in motion pictures , television or computer video display .
The T 747’ s internal AM/FM tuner oers very high quality sound from radio broadcasts. The reception and sound quality will always be dependent to a degree howev er on the t ype of antenna(s) used as well as pr oximity to the broadcast origin, geography and w eather conditions.
AUTOM A T IC P RE SE T Pr eset stations may also be programmed automatically for the entire F M (or AM) band. 1 T oggle the [AM/FM/DB] button to select FM ( or AM) band. 2 Pr ess and hold the AVR 3’ s [MEMORY ] button until the station frequency indication begins to increase .

Until now , analogue radio signals such as FM or AM have been subject to numerous kinds of inter fer ence on their way from the transmitter to your radio.
PR ES ET TU NE Use this option to select a DAB preset station. 1 While listening to a DAB br oadcast, press front panel’ s [MENU] button and then [ ] to select “Preset tune ” . Press [ENTER]. 2 Pr ess [ ] to step up or down between pr esets. Note that Presets must have been previously stor ed.
IN FO RM A TI ON SE T TI NG S While listening to a DAB br oadcast, the t ype of information display ed in the lower line of the VFD can be varied. T oggle the AVR 3’ s [INFO] button to step through .
The T 747 is equipped with a data por t in the rear panel where an optional NAD IPD Dock for iP od (NAD IPD) can be plugged in. With the NAD IPD linking the T 747 with your o wn iPod player , you can enjoy listening to your favorite tracks and playlists as well as view applicable still image and video playback.
NA D I PD 2 The NAD IPD 2 has its own remote contr ol - the DR 1. DR 1 can be used to control NAD IPD 2 only at “Simple M ode ” . When using the DR 1 to command your iP od player docked in the NAD IPD 2, you have to refer t o your iP od player ’ s own display screen to make full use of its featur e; there is no OSD at this condition.
