1 ABOUT THIS GUIDE Congratulations on your pur chase of the 48+4G- Port 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Eth ernet Web Smart S witch. This de vice integrat es 1000Mbps Gigabit Et hernet, 100Mb ps Fast Ethernet and 10Mbp s Ethern et network capabilities in a highly flexible package.
2 INTRODUCTION This chapter describ es the features of the 48+4G -Port 10/100/1000Mbps Giga bit Ethernet Web Smart Switch and some background info rmation about Ethernet/Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet switching techno logy. Gigabit Ethernet Technology Gigabit Ethernet is an extension of IEEE 802.
3 100Mbps Fast Ethernet is a s tandard specifi ed by the IEEE 802.3 LAN committee. It is an extension of the 10Mbps Ethernet standard with the ability to transmit and receive data at 100Mbps, w hile mainta ining the CSMA/ CD Ether net protocol.
4 VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) A VLAN is a gro up of end-st ations that are not constraine d by their phys ical location and can communicate as if a common broa dcast domain, a LAN. The primary utility of using VLAN is to r educe late ncy and need for route rs, using fa ster switchin g instead.

8 IDENTIFYING EXTERNAL COMP ONENTS This chapter describes the front panel, rear panel, and LED indicators of the Switch. Front Panel The figure below shows the front pan els of the Switch.

Plug in the female connector of t he provided power cor d into thi s connector, and the m ale into a power outlet. Supported i nput vol tages ran ge from 100-240V AC at 50- 60Hz.

11 Off : No link. SPEED: On (Green) : When the green light is on, the respective port is connected to a 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet network. On (Amber) When the Amber light is on, the respective port is connected to a 100Mbps Fast Ethernet network.
12 CONFIGURATION Through the Web Browser you can co nfigure the S witch such as VLAN, Trunki ng, QoS… etc. With the attached Web Management Utility, you can easily d iscover all the Web Management Switch, assi gn the IP Address, c hanging the password a nd upgradin g the new firmware.
13 Discovery List This is the list where you can discover all th e Web management devices in the entire network. By pressing t he “Disco very” button, you can li st all the Web M anagem ent devices in the discovery list. Double click or press the “Add to monitor list” button to select a device from the Discovery List to the Monitor List.
14 View Trap: The Trap function can receive the ev ents that happen from the Web Management Switch in the Monito r List. There is a light indicator be hind the “View Tra p” button, when th e light.

16 Toolbar The toolbar in the Web Management Utility have four main tabs, File, View, Options and Help. In the “File TAB” , there are Monitor Save, Monitor Save As, Monitor Load and Exit.
17 Login Before you configur e this device, note that when the Web Smart Switch is configured through an Ethernet connection, m ake sure the manager P C must be set on sam e the IP network . For example, when the default network ad dress of the default IP address of the Web Smart Switch is 192.
18 Figure 14. Device Status Setup Menu When the main pa ge appears , find the Setup menu in the left side of the screen (Figure 15). Click on the setup item that you want to configure.
19 Configuring Setup Setting Find that there are four items, including Port S ettings, VLAN Settings and Trunk Settings in Setup m enu. Port Settings In Port Settings menu (Figure 16), this page will show each port’s status, press the ID parameter to set each port’s Speed, Flow Control , and QoS priori ty .
20 This setting h as six modes — 100M F ull , 100M Half , 10M Full , 10M Half, Auto and Disable —for speed or port disable selections. Note: If speed set to be exist 100M full mode or 10M full mode, flow control have fixed setting to disable Flow Control: This setting determines whether or not the Switch will be handling flow control.

22 Device Status Click on the “Status” to presen t the device status on this screen, it will show the System Status, Port Status, VLAN Status and Trunk Status . Press “Refresh” when you need to renew the posted information. Statistic The Statistic Menu screen will show the status of each port p acket count.
