It is intended for the followisng uses depending on its class: - Professional and mid-class: Use on small, medium and large trees: felling, limb removal, cutting to length, thinning.

6 10 12 13 14 11 Kickback - When working with the chain saw dangerous kickbacks may occur . - Kickback occurs when the upper part of the end of the guide bar inadvertently touches wood or other hard objects (10). - This causes the saw to be thrown back toward the user with great force and out of control.
7 15 16 17 18 19 2 1 / 2 45° 45° = cutting down area - Be careful when cutting splintery wood. Cut pieces of wood may be pulled along (risk of injuries). - When cutting with the upper edge of the guide bar, the chain saw may be pushed in the direction of the user if the chain gets clamped.
8 20 21 22 24 T ransport and storage - When changing your location during work switch off the chain saw and actuate the chain brake in order to prevent an inad- vertent start of the chain. - Never carry or transport the chain saw with the chain run- ning.

10 5 7 6 5 4 1 2 3 C D B A Put on the guide bar ( 7 ). Make sure that the pin ( 5 ) of the chain tensioner engages in the hole in the guide bar . Remove the plastic transport cover (*) and dispose of prop- erly .
11 8 10 1 9 9 12 2 4 F H E 2 3 G Replace the sprocket guard (3). Tighten the nuts ( 2 ) only hand-tight to begin with. Lift the chain ( 9 ) over the sprocket ( 8 ). CAUTION: Do not insert the chain between the chain sprocket and the disc. Guide the chain from above about halfway into the groove ( 10 ) on the guide bar .
12 2 4 1 2 1 C B A Engaging the chain brake (braking) If the kickback is strong enough the sudden acceleration of the guide bar combined with the inertia of the hand guard ( 1 ) will automatically actuate the chain brake.
13 E + OIL 50:1 OIL D Fuel CAUTION: This saw is powered by mineral-oil products (gasoline and oil) . Be especially careful when handling gasoline . Do not smoke. Keep tool well away from open ß ames, spark, or Þ re (explosion hazard). Fuel mixture This tool is powered by a high-performance air-cooled two-stroke engine.
14 A B NEVER USE W ASTE OIL Waste oil is very dangerous for the environment. Waste oil contains high amounts of carcinogenic substances. Residues in waste oil result in a high degree of wear and tear at the oil pump and the sawing device.
15 2 3 1 C E D Checking the chain lubrication Never work with the chain saw withoute suf Þ cient chain lubri - ca tion. Otherwise the service life of the chain and guide bar will be reduced. Before starting work check the oil level in the tank and the oil feed.

17 6 C 7 8 Working in winter In order to prevent carburetor icing in conditions of low tempe- rature combined with high humidity , and below + 5°C in order to get up to operating temperature faster , heated air can be taken from the cylinder . Remove the cover (see “Cleaning the air Þ lter”).
18 H S L A CAUTION: Do not adjust the carburetor until the machine has been completely assembled and checked! Do not adjust the carburetor without a tachometer! Carburetor adjustment is necessary for optimum engine performance, for safer and more economical operation.

The engine should be warm, the air Þ lter clean, and the chain properly tensioned. Have carburetor adjustment done by an authorised MAKIT A service centre.

21 1 2 D 4/5 E F Chain typ 086, 484, 686, 099 Chain typ 093 Files and how to work with them Use a special saw chain round Þ le for sharpening. Standard round Þ les are unsuitable. For the order number , see “Accessories”. T ype 086, 484, 686 : File the Þ rst cutter half with a 4,8 mm dia.
22 7 2 3 1 4 6 5 A B Cleaning the brake band and sprocket interior CAUTION: Before doing any work on the guide bar or chain, always switch off the engine and pull the plug cap off the spark plug (see „Replacing the spark plug“) . Always wear protective gloves! CAUTION: Start the chain saw only after having assembled it completely and inspected.
23 8 12 13 11 9 14 15 C Check the sprocket before mounting a new chain. Worn out sprockets ( 8 ) may damage the new chain and must therefore be replaced. Remove the sprocket guard (See „PUTTING INTO OPERA TI- ON“ Þ gs. B ). Remove the chain and guide bar .
24 5 3 6 4 A 1 2 5 3 4 5a CAUTION: T o prevent eye injury , always wear eye protection when cleaning the Þ lter with compressed air! Do not use fuel to clean the air Þ lter . Disengage the cover clasp ( 1 ) with the universal wrench and take off the cover ( 2 ).
25 8 9 7 0,5 mm 11 10 12 B C D Checking the muf ß er screws Remove the retaining plate ( 10 ) by unscrewing screws ( 11 , short) and ( 12 , long). The muf ß er screws are now accessible through the blind holes and can be checked for tight Þ t. If they are loose, hand-tighten them (Important - do not overtighten!).

Remove the air guide ( 3 ) from the fan housing. CAREFUL! Injury hazard! Do not unscrew screw (7) if the return spring is under tension.
27 14 B 15 C Replacing the suction head The felt Þ lter ( 15 ) of the suction head can become clogged. It is recommended to replace the suction head once every three months in order to ensure unimpeded fuel ß ow to the carburetor .

29 Service, spare parts and guarantee Maintenance and repair The maintenance and repair of modern engines as well as all safety devices require quali Þ ed technical training and a special work- shop equipped with special tools and testing devices. Any work not described in this Manual may be performed only by a MAKIT A service centre.
