1 1 Introduction Thank you for purchasing LevelOne 11g USB adapter with Wi-Fi Detector. This convenient device instantly detects wireless hotspots anywhere.

4 2 How to charge the battery of Wi-Fi Detector 1. Remove the cap from th e Wi-Fi Detector, sl ide the power switch to the “ON” position and carefully insert the USB connector into any available USB port on your computer. You will see the recharging screen.
5 3 How to use the Wi-Fi Detector 1. Slide the power s witch to the “ON” position. 2. The Wi-Fi detector will automatically enter scan ning mode to detect Wi-Fi signals. In scanning mode the display will display the total number of bo th non-encrypted and encrypted Wi-Fi signals detected.
6 The Icons on the LCD display are displayed as follows: 1. Operating Channel: Indicates the cu rrent operating channel of the detected Wi-Fi signal. 2. Number of AP’s Detected: the left digi t indicates which detected Wi-Fi signal is currently displayed and the right dig it indicates the total amount of Wi-Fi signals detected.
7 In “lock mode” the detec tor constantly re-detec ts and refreshes the signal streng th to this specific SSID so the user can move around to find the op timal spot with strongest signal. Press and hold the “Seek/Lock” button for 4 seconds to unlock the “lock mode”.
8 4 How to install the driver and utility Before you proceed with the installation, pleas e pay attention to the following descriptions. Note1: Please do not install the USB adapter into your computer before installing the software program from the CD.
9 Please click “ Next ” to continue the installation. If you want to install the software program in another location, click “ Brow se ” and select an alternative destination.
10 The system will display “Software Installation” screen. Click “ Continue Anywa y ” to continue. Click “ Finish ” to co mplete the installation.
11 4.2 Install the USB adapter Plug the USB adapter into the USB port of your computer. The “ Found New Hardw ar e Wizard ” is displayed, s elect “Install the so ftware automatically (Recommended)” and click “ Next ”. Click “ Continue Anyway ” and the system will start to install the USB adapter.

13 4.3 Using the Configuration Utility To setup the USB adapter, double- click the icon in the system tra y. For Windows XP, there is a “Windows Zero Confi guration Tool” by default for you to setup wireless clients. If you want to use the Utility of the USB adapter, please follow one of the ways as below.

15 5 How to configure the utility The Configuration Utility is a powerful applicatio n that helps you configure the 11g Wireless LAN USB adapter and monitor the link status during the communication process. The Configuration Utility appears as an icon on the system tray of Windows while the adapter is running.
16 5.1 Wireless Connection Status When you open the Configuration U tility, the system will scan all the channels to find all the access points/stations within the accessible r ange of your adapter and automatically connect to the wireless device with the highes t signal stre ngth.
