10 System Requirements For Windows: The SoloPRO drive is formatted with an NTFS file sy stem, a default for the Windows OS. For Mac: The Solo is supported on Mac’s using the G 3 (or later) or Inte l processor. When connecting to a Mac, t he SoloPRO drive will need to be reformatted once connected.
11 About USB 2.0 USB 2.0 has a maximum interf ace transfer rate, or bandwi dth, of 480 Mbps (Megabits per second). The pe rformance depends on ma ny factors including: CPU, file system overhea d, number of attached USB devices and more.
12 About eSATA eSATA, or external SATA, i s a high performance inter face that provides up to 6x faster transfer rates than US B 2.0 (up to 3 Gbits/s ec).
13 Securing the SoloPRO (Suggestions) Kensington ® Security Slot For drive security, the SoloPRO is e quipped with a Kensingto n security slot, which supports a standard Kensington security cable (sold separately). 14 For Added Security For added security, the SoloPR O can be secured with a cable and padlock or bolted to a floor. See the pi ctures below for suggested met hods on physically securing the SoloPRO .
15 Connecting the SoloPRO to Your Co mputer Using the USB connection 1. Connect the included powe r supply to the back of th e SoloPRO . CAUTION! To avoid damage t o the power supply connector, m ake sure it is aligned correctly before pl ugging it into the driv e.
16 4. Verify that the Drive Mounts. Before storing data on the SoloPRO, the drive must be “mou nted” to the computers operati ng sys tem. This means that the com puters operating system has recognized at least one readable partition o n the drive and established a communication link with it.
17 eSATA Connection For best performance and com patibility with Windows Server and Linux , connect the drive to an eS ATA host adapter or a built-in external eSAT A connection. Connect the d rive to USB if a suppor ted eSATA connection is not available.
18 3. Connect the included power supp ly to the SoloPRO. CAUTION! To avoid damage to the power supply connector, make sure it is aligned correctly before plugging it into the dr ive. Do not move the drive while it is powered up to avoid drive damag e or data loss.
19 6. Verify that the Drive Mounts. Before storing data on the SoloPRO, the dr ive must be “m ounted” to the computers opera ting system. This means that the computers operating system has rec ognized at least one readable partition on t he drive and established a commu nication link with it.
20 Disconnecting and Reconnecting the Drive using eSATA eSATA supports hot-swap ping by design, however, this fea ture requires proper support and setup at the host, device (drive) , and operating-system level. If not properly configure d you may have to powe r off your computer and the SoloPRO before disconnecti ng.
21 Formatting the Solo PRO for Mac OS The SoloPRO is formatted NTFS and may not be reco gnized by Mac OS 10.2 and earlier. You may get a n alert message which reads: “ You have inserted a disk containing no volume s that Mac OS can read.” Click t he ignore button and follow the steps below .
22 ioSafe Data Recovery Service Terms and Conditions As applicable during the Data Recovery Service perio d and upon validated registration of an ioSafe (t he Company) product on the Com pany's website (www.iosafe.com), the Com pany or its contracted par tner will assist the original purchaser for one "data recovery event".

24 Following a Disaster If the SoloPRO is exposed to a disaster such as a flood or fire, you should immediately call the ioSafe Di saster Response Team at 1- 888 -984-6 723 (US & Canada) or 1- 530 - 886 -1578 (I nternational) extension 430. Yo u can also send an email to disastersupport@io safe.
