SECTION 2—EMI INFORMATION Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 16 Part No. 1143205 WARNING Powered Wheelchair Electromagn etic Interference (EMI) Because EM energy rapidly becomes more intense as one moves close r to the transmitting antenna (source), the EM fields from hand-held radio wave sources (transceivers) are of special concern.

This manual points out the most common pro ce dures and techniques involv ed in the safe operation and maintenance.
SECTION 3—SAFETY/HANDLING OF POWERED SCOOTERS Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 18 Part No. 1143205 Stairways WARNING DO NOT attempt to move an occupied powered scooter between floors using a stairway. Use an elevator to move an occup ied powered scooter between floors.
SECTION 4—SAFETY INSPECTION Part No. 1143205 19 Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 SECTION 4—SAFETY INSPECTION NOTE: Every six months take your power ed scooter to a qualified technician for a thor ough inspection and servicing. Regular cleaning will reveal loose or worn parts and enhance the smooth operation of your power ed scooter .
SECTION 4—SAFETY INSPECTION Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 20 Part No. 1143205 ❑ Tighten locknut if the fro nt wheel wobbles noticeably or loosen locknut if the wheel binds to a stop. ❑ Ensure that wheel bearings are clean and free of moisture. ❑ Ensure that the bolts and fasten ers on the caster assemblies are tight.
SECTION 4—SAFETY INSPECTION Part No. 1143205 21 Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 Inspect/Adjust Periodically ❑ Ensure that the powered scooter drives straight (no excessive drag or pull to one side). ❑ Check frame for damage and corrosion. ❑ Ensure that the brake release lev er is easy to engage/disengage.

NOTE: For driving indoors or on uneven terrain, a slower speed is r e comme nded. For soft terrain or steep inclines (no gr eater than 8°), a faster speed may be necessary .
SECTION 6—OPERATION OF THE POWERED SCOOTER Part No. 1143205 29 Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 Engaging/Disengaging t he Brake Release Lever WARNING Ensure that the brake-release lever is in th e engaged position before driving. There should be an audible "click" when stopping and starting the scooter.

SECTION 10—BATTERIES Part No. 1143205 37 Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 SECTION 10—BATTERIES WARNING Before performing any maintenance adju stment or service, turn power off and remove key from ignition. NEVER allow any of your tools and/or batter y cables to contact both battery terminals at the same time.
SECTION 10—BATTERIES Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 38 Part No. 1143205 NOTE: Charge batteries daily . DO NOT allow batteries to compl etely dischar ge. NOTE: Invacare r ecommends that both batteries be replaced i f one batte ry is defective.

SECTION 10—BATTERIES Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 40 Part No. 1143205 Installing 1. Install the tw o new batteries into the battery box. 2. Secure the thermal switch to the s ide of the left battery using tape*. *NOTE: The thermal switch needs to be well secur ed and in dire ct contact with the side of the battery .
SECTION 10—BATTERIES Part No. 1143205 41 Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 Charging the Batteries WARNING NEVER attempt to recharge the batteries by attaching cables directly to the battery terminals o r clamps. DO NOT attempt to recharge the batteri es and operate the powered scooter at the sam e time.
SECTION 10—BATTERIES Lynx™L-3 & Lynx L-4 42 Part No. 1143205 7. Plug the other end of the battery c harger cable into 110-v olt wall outlet. NOTE: The battery charger lig ht will be YELLOW or RED. 8. Allow the batteries to charge until the charger light turns GREEN.
